My name is Barbara, but I'm better known as RootsLady. I am the current County Coordinator for Early County. It is with great pride and pleasure that I have chosen to sponsor Early County along with several counties in Texas. I've never been to Blakely or Early County, but I feel like a part of me belongs here. You see, it was my third great- grandfather, Benjamin Collier, who deeded the land for the city of Blakely. I know a lot of the family names, heard stories and have read letters about the county. Who knows, I'm probably kin to half the people and feel like Early County is a sister county to several  in East Texas. I'm going to need a lot of help in the coming days and months to make this site one that you, me, our children, all our ancestors and the generations yet to come can be proud of.  But it can only be as good as all of us want it to be.

The Georgia GenWeb Project

In March and April, 1996, a group of genealogists organized the Georgia Comprehensive Genealogy Database. The idea was to provide a single entry point for all counties in Georgia, where collected databases would be stored. In addition, the databases would be indexed and cross-linked, so that even if an individual were found in more than one county, they could be located in the index.
At the same time, volunteers were found who were willing to coordinate the collection of databases and generally oversee the contents of the web page.
If you would like to contribute your information to this page, please let me know. If you would like to host a county, contact Tim Stowell, State Coordinator for Georgia . The SW Regional Coordinator for Georgia is Harry Fulsom
