George Washington Webb Family

Source: Sue Webb

George Washington WEBB was born March 1831 in Houston County Georgia. His father was Cullen Webb and his mother was Malinda COVINGTON. He enlisted with the Confederate States of America as a private attached to Company G 13th GA Infantry, the Early Guards. He was wounded July 1, 1862 at Malvern Hill in Virginia. He never healed enough from his wounds to return to battle and was mustered out March 1863. He received a pension for his military service. On December 31, 1865 in Early county he married Emily Permelia WESTBROOK, born August 24, 1846 in Georgia. Emily was the daughter of Daniel James Westbrook and his wife Malinda M POWELL. George and Emily Webb had 11 children and raised them on tenant farms in the town of Damascus.
Their children were:
    Clarissa C. Webb
    Florence M. Webb
    George Washington Webb, Jr.
    John Barion Webb
    Morah C. Webb
    Hinton Webb
    Adelaide Eugenia Webb
    Daniel Preston Webb
    William Kent 'WK' Webb
    Willie Webb
    baby Webb
Emily died February 15, 1892 shortly after the birth of their last child who was stillborn. Emily and the child were buried together in the same grave but their burial location is unknown.

George Webb never remarried after the death of his beloved Emily and raised the young children with the help of the older children who were married and settled in their own households. George was plagued by his war wounds all of his life and was an invalid when he died in 1910. All that is known of his burial location is that it is in Damascus most likely next to Emily.
