One of William Crawford's daughters moved to Pike County, Mississippi. A reference about Pike County [18] contains an article about the Crawford family. In this article, there is speculation that William Crawford was the son of Thomas Crawford, who obtained a grant for land in St. Matthew's Parish(later, Effingham County) in 1771. Furthermore, the book suggests that the Crawfords of Effingham County originated in Virginia or South Carolina. The basis for either of these speculations is not discussed.
