Welcome to East Georgia Genealogical Society, Inc.
The society was organized in April 1991 as Piedmont Regional Genealogy Society and changed the name to East Georgia Genealogical Society in January 2000. East Georgia Genealogical Society, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to raise the standard of genealogical research through educational programs, workshops, publication of data, promotion of the collection and preservation of records and the stimulation of general interest in genealogy.
MEMBERSHIP: Membership is from January through December. To become a member print application and mail to EGGS.
MEETINGS: Monthly meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 36 Sims Rd, Winder, GA 30680. Meetings consist of: society business, guest speakers, refreshments and social time.
QUARTERLY: Members receive the publication, “Georgia Settlers”. “Georgia Settlers”, is issued quarterly in February, May, August and November of each year. The quarterly’s main emphasis is various abstracted county records (never before published) for the 28 counties served by EGGS. It also contains current events, announcements, feature articles, queries, family trees, book reviews, etc. Each issue is fully indexed.
PUBLICATIONS: Members are entitled to discounts on many of the publications available through E.G.G.S. The list of publications is in the back of each quarterly, “Georgia Settlers” and on the EGGS website.
WEBSITE: E.G.G.S. Website is not only a way to reach out to the general public but is also a way to stay informed on monthly meeting programs, special projects as well as a repository for genealogical information. Members are encouraged to contribute. URL: www.rootsweb.com/~gaeggs
