Hughes. He appears in the 1860 Federal Census of Fannin County
with the information that he is 43, a farmer, born in North Carolina,
and a Baptist Minister. His wife is Rebecca (unknown), and
children Miles, Andrew, Elizabeth, Anna, Benjamin, James, Joseph, and
Mary. They are gone by the 1870 Census. Any information you
may be able to provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in

Georgia Randolph. I am trying to
find Glade Baptist Church Cemetery, Fannin Co, GA. My grandmother's sister, Theodosia
PATTERSON is buried there. This information came from Theodosia's daughter, Eva Collins
(now deceased). Some
time ago I did find this church cemetery on line with a picture,
but I believe the cemetery/church has been renamed. And I can't locate it again. If you live in this area maybe you are
familiar with this cemetery and can tell me how to find it. I find Glade Cemetery, Bartow Co and Glade Creek Baptist Church Cemetery,
Habersham Co but not Fannin,
Co.
Katie Crane. My
greatgrandmother was from Blue Ridge. Her name was Elisabeth HUGHES.
She was born 6/8/1856(I think this is the correct year) She
married Melton LOGGINS. They had 3 sons that I know of Fred J.
Loggins (my grandfather), Lonnie Loggins, and Elbert Loggins. I
think her family was in the lumber business and fairly affluent. Would
appreciate any information or leads.
Robert Fletcher. Calladonna and Louella are found in
the 1880 census of Hot House, Fannin County, GA. They are listed as
grandchildren of Hial and Elizabeth FLETCHER. I am searching for the father of
these children who could be my
long lost grandfather. My grandfather was Silas Pearson Fletcher who disappeared after 1860 and appeared
again in Walker county GA, 1886, where he married my grandmother. He died in
1907 with no one ever learning
of his life before 1886. In the few records found he used the name S.P., Percifer, Pierce, Pearson and
Parson but never Silas. I would like
to contact anyone with knowledge of any one in this family. A male descendant of Hial Fletcher for DNA
comparison would be wonderful. Thank you.
Tuni Dykstra. Anyone

Keith Jones. I’m the (fairly new)
president of the Fannin Heritage Foundation. I had heard that at one
time a genealogical group in Blue Ridge wanted to combine with the
Foundation, but it didn’t work out. Do you know any details on this?
Would there be any interest in that group becoming part of the
Foundation now?
Mitzi A. Bame. My
grandfather's grandfather, Bennet(t) Brown was found in Fannin County,
GA in the 1860 and 1870 census. He was deceased by the 1880
census where his widow was found in the Hot House township of Cherokee
Co., NC. I was wondering if you had a death date or cemetery for
Bennet(t). I was also wondering if you knew anything of his sons
Elmer (1844-1860+) or Igdore (1846-1860+). Igdore is the best I
can read from the census. [Note: the name may be Isidore or Isadore]
Beverly Scroggs. I am
searching from information on a Henry Scruggs and Missouri Watkins. I
have found a 1900 US census that says she was widowed with two
children, William A and Henry M. I also found two marriage
records the first says they were married Nov of 1896, and the second
says Mar of 1897. But, I haven't been able to find anything about when
Henry died or who his parents were, or when he was born. The census and
one mariage record are from Fannin and the other record is
Gilmer. I would very much apperciate any help you can give,
for I believe that Henry and Missouri are the parents of my husband's
grandfather.

Laura Lisa Phillips.
My father was born in 1904 in Blue Ridge, GA. My father's name was James and my mother's
name was Bonnie. She was 20 years younger and she passed away in 1968. All that I know
is that his father's name was Andrew Jackson PHILLIPS and his mother
was Sara Phillips. I do know
that he lived to be in his late 90's. I do remember hearing that
my grandmother was part Cherokee, and once my grandfather won "strongest man in the county." I guess
it was at a fair or something. They were very poor and had a rough life.

Elvira Kyle, born abt 1836 in Buncombe County, NC, died after the 1910

with three adult children, John Kyle, Sarah Kyle and Christina Kyle, in the Flint

Sue Pittman. I'm
researching my family and am having trouble finding anything on my
maternal great grandfather
John Thomas Tilley (or Jay Thomas Tilley). I know John Thomas Tilley
came to Yancey County, NC from
Fannin County in the late 1800s with Josephine "Josie" Bailey, his first wife. She died young and
he married my great grandmother
Ida Bradshaw.
He also brought his mother with him, Martha. From what I can find,
Martha may have had him illegitimately.
<>
She may
have been the daughter of Tighlman "Tillman" Tilley and Prudence Pressley. So, maybe John Thomas took the
name of Tilley. I found the grave
of Prudence on a cemetery website, but Tighlman wasn't buried there. It was in the Tilley Church Cemetery
which either Tighlman or his
son, Benjamin was supposed to have founded. the little church was
there too. She was the only Tilley
that I think was from this family buried there. I think Tighlman was killed
in 1864 of Chronic Disentery
while serving Union Army during the Civil War. I don't know where he is buried, but have found he
died in Pulaski, TN. Anything you can give me would be
appreciated.
