Ben W. Kelley, Jr

(nephew of Walter Kelley)

Just north of Fayetteville, off Hwy 85 near the intersection of Carter Rd and  Corinth Rd there is a small family cemetery behind a house.  I believe it is the Allen Family Cemetery. There are some Darnells buried there and some Kelleys.  There appears to be two different sets of Kelleys.  One set is Walter Kelley and his wife Nellie Blye Kelley and two daughters
Sara Edna Kelley who died as an infant and Laura Nell Kelley Machado.   I am interested in the other Kelleys who are buried there and how I might contact any relatives of them. Any assistance you can give would be most appreciated.

I am searching to find out more information about Abner G. King and the Rentfro family. Both families were in Fayette County, Georgia in 1855.  The Rentfros were in Fayette County as early as the 1830's.  The following information is what I have been able to find:

Question:  Who were the parents of Abner G. King?

Abner G. King born: ?

Died:  May 20, 1903 in Trinity County, Texas

Buried:  Trinity Texas

Married: Martha (Patty) Rentfro

Died February 10, 1900, Hunt County Texas.  Buried in Sonora Cemetery, Fairlie, Texas

Date of Marriage: ?

Marriage Record, Fayette County, Georgia, February 1, 1855 – Marriage to Martha Patty Rentfro

The Journal, Crockett, Texas – 1860-1865.  Referred to him as:  Dr. Abner G. King

Additional information:

Council Rentfro born Buncombe County, North Carolina, 1805 (Father of Martha (Patty) Rentfro).

Council Rentfro in Fayette County as early as 1833.

Strong bond between Rentfro and King families.  Took them from Fayette County, Georgia, to Crockett, Houston County, Texas.  Both buried in same county, i.e. Trinity County, Texas

Both Abner and a Mr. Rentfro served together in the Confederacy.

My grandfather, Franklin Lafayette King (1855-1928), Registered Pharmacist, Fairlie, Texas stated in a written petition that he remembered that his father, Abner and a Mr. Rentfro discussed the battles that they had been in.  He also remembered both men wearing their grey uniforms.  Cannot determine if this is Council Rentfro or his son.

They had several children and my G Grandfather, George Washington Lassiter (Lasseter, Laseter, Laster) was born and grew up in Fayette County. I am looking for any type of reports or information on a Fayette County murder that took place on Saturday January 27th, 1855.
This excerpt from the "Governor’s Executive Records 1849 - 1855" explains:  Saturday, February 3, 1855 Murder committed Saturday the 27th in Fayette County, GA by Seaborn Mayfield on the body of Alford Murphy. Mayfield escaped from jail. Reward: $100.00 for the arrest and delivery to proper authorities. Does anyone have either individual in their Fayette County genealogy?  Seaborn Mayfield would have been about 18 at the time and his wife was Catharine PAGE.  Seaborn lived in Campbell County and had placed his 45 acres of land up for security on Aug. 4, 1853.

I am trying to find some information regarding Henry Mitchell who lived in Fayette County, Georgia.  He is on the 1830 and 1840 Census Records.   I believe he is Daniel/Danville Mitchell's father.  I need to know of a spouse's name and  hopefully a place of birth.  Anything else would be great but those two items are the main things I need.  I believe Henry may have received land in the Lottery but not sure of the year.
In the 1830 and 1840 Census there is also a Jonathan that has me a little stumped.  If anyone has info on him, I would appreciate it..
I am a direct line of the Hubbard/Mitchell Family from Fayette County.  I am happy to share what I have with anyone that is interested.  I appreciate anyone that can help me.....

Paul Reeves

05 Aug 2005 I am looking for the grave of Amos Reeves, born 1845, and who died during the civil war, exact date unknown. He died in Savannah and his remains were shipped back to Fayette County for burial. He was the son of William Reeves 1794-1850, whose burial place I am also looking for. There is no record of these burials in any of the recorded cemeteries, so it is likely that their graves are in a family cemetery somewhere in Fayette County. William Reeves lived on Land Lot 172 of Fayette County, and the cemetery may be in that vicinity.
