SWAN, LYLE  Mary Lou Campbell (rolliec@sisna.com)  30 Apr 2003 Seeking information about Bishop Swan. He was listed on the 1830 Campbell County GA census; 1 male 20/30; 1 female under 5, 1 female 20/30. Bishop married Sarah Lyle in Fayette County GA the first of May 1825. Her father said to have been Dilmus Lyle. In the 1830 Campbell census, Bishop was listed near Edward Swan (my line). Bishop and family APPARENTLY went back to Fayette County. There is a B. Swan listed in the 1840 census for Fayette County as follows: 2 males under 5, 1 male 30/40, 3 females under five, 1 female 5/10, 2 females 30/40. Was Bishop related to Edward? Where was the family in 1850? Bishop might have died before then and Sarah would be head of the house. email me at rolliec@sisna.com Mary Lou Campbell

I am searching for my Turner ancestor's. My great grandfather was Oscar Quintion, Quintan, or Quintice Turner. Born Dec. 1871, died May 11, 1935. He is buried at Beulah Church Cemetery in Meansville, Ga. He was buried by Haisten Funeral home. I cannot get any information about him except on my grandmothers birth records states that he was born in  Fayette county. His death certificate from Spalding County shows his name as Oscar T. Turner and his mother was Mathilda Morgan. The space for his fathers name only had a question mark Turner on it.  He married Mary (Mattie) Jane Ogletree. I found a Quintan Turner on the 1880 census for Fayette Co. in the household with a widowed mother, Matilda and several other siblings. I have not found any information on any of these siblings either. I would really love to find out who Oscar's father was and where his siblings on this census have went. I only know that Oscar and Mattie Jane lived and raised all nine of their children in Pike Co. Georgia. Three of their children died at very young ages.
They were listed as follows:
Matlida Turner-Head Widow born 1839
Truss Turner- son born 1864
Martha Turner- dau born 1867
John Turner-son born 1870
Quintan Turner- son born 1871 my GGfather, wed Mattie Jane Ogletree
Alverdus Turner- dau born 1874
James Turner- son born 1880
If anyone had any information on any of these names I would greatly appreciate it.

VINCENT, VINSON, WEST, JACKSON

Carolyn Taylor (crtaylor@highstream.net)

17 Feb 2003

I'm told one VINCENT / VINSON family in Louisiana came from Fayette Co., GA. It is said that my VINCENT / VINXON family may have been for the Georgia family. I didn't find any info on this county page with either of those surnames. My family was in Louisiana by the time the mother and step father died in 1827, they may have already been in LA when the two VINCENT boys were born around 1798 and before 1805, the father ________ VINCENT / VINSON had died and Eunice West Vinson had married James JACKSON by about 1805. The two boys were named William and James Allen. The two spellings were used interchangeably in the early years but descendants now use VINCENT
