Shannon is not the thriving community it once was,,, the mill has closed,,, and the school has moved back toward Rome,,, out of the immediate area,,,,, but the village is still full of people who have worked in the mill and retired or people who like to live in the village and work in Rome, Calhoun, and surrounding areas,,,,,, I personally graduated from Model,,,, I was raised in the Celanese Village,, and attended Celanese till 11th grade and went 2 years at Model,,,,, very good school still is to this day,,,,,
