\cf1\f1 Bob G., Nichols, 76, of 567 Mountain View Road, died Wednesday at his residence following a short illness.\par
Mr. Nichols was born Aug. 8, 1930 in Floyd County, son of the late William Boyd Nichols and Mary Alice Dearing Nichols. He had been a resident of Rome most of his life and was a graduate of Rome High School. Mr. Nichols was employed for many years at Trend Mills and retired from the Rome News-Tribune Advertising Department. He was a member of the North Broad Baptist Church and an avid canoeist, fishermanand yard worker.\par
Survivors include his wife Carolyne Childers Nichols, son William "Rand" Nichols of Chattanooga; a brother Herman (Helen) Nichols, and a niece Jane (Bunky) Wood. Several great nieces and nephews also survive.\par
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday in the Thomas B. Griffin Memorial Chapel of Daniel's Funeral Home with Dr. Tony and Reverend Katrina Brooks officiating. Private interment services will follow in Oakland Cemetery.\par
The KEG Club of Rome High School will serve as honorary pallbearers. \par
The family will receive friends at Daniel's Friday from 1 until 2 p.m. and at other hours will be at the residence.\par
