Funeral Services Set Thursday For Boyd Miller Otting, 68

Funeral services for Boyd Miller Otting, 68, who died Tuesday morning in a Rome hospital, will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the North Rome Church of God with the Rev. J. E. Williamson of Arab, Ala. and the Rev. Willard Willlis, pastor of Pleasant Hope Baptist Church, officiating.
He was born in Floyd County Dec. 18, 1892, the son of the late John and Harriet Plemons Otting. He was a retired Pepperell employee.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ruth Bailey, whom he married in 1914.
Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Reuben Akins, Lindale, Miss Doris Otting and Mrs. Sybil Vaughn, Rome; four sons, Boyd Miller Otting, Jr. Atlanta, Armon Otting, Rosemont Park, Bobby Otting, Nash, Texas,and Larry Otting, Rome; two brothers, Frank Otting, Cartersville, and H. T. Otting, Rome; five sisters, Mrs. Homer Cantrell, Mrs. Sally Castleberry, Mrs. Epsey Plemons, Mrs. Pauline Cooper and Mrs. Geneva Richey, all of Rome. Thirteen grandchildren also survive.
Active pallbearers will be nephews, Virgil Castleberry, John W. Otting, Elbert Otting, Clifford Bink, Jr., Charlie Freeman and John Richey. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. O. W. Jenkins, Leonard Yarbrough, John Mathis, Cecil Wood, John Smith, Johnny Bell, G. Howard Smith, Robert McCamey, Doyle Freeman, John Burkhalter, Ralph Jones, Walter Strouple, Arthur Bennett, Grady McPhee. Pallbearers are asked to meet at the church at 4:15 p.m. Thursday.
The body will be at the residence, 124 E. 14th St.,until time for services. Jackson-Frazier Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
