Mrs. Essie L. Wilson Dies After Illness; Funeral is Wednesday

Mrs. Essie Lee Scoggins Wilson 65, passed away at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. Georgia Alred, 12 Chester Ave., Monday at 9:20 p.m. folllowing an illness of several months.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Chattooga County, March 17, 1892, daughter of the late Gilliam T. and Ellen Mathis Scoggins, pioneer citizens of Chattooga County. She had spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County and was a member of the Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Willie J. Wilson, to whom she was married September 7, 1929; one daughter, Mrs. Georgia Alred, Rome; one son, Talmadge Davis, Rome Rt. 1; two brothers, W. G. Scoggins, Armuchee and Doyle Scoggins, LaFayette; two sisters, Mrs. F. D. Stewart and Mrs. Daisy Selman of Atlanta. Four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Calhoun Avenue Baptist Church with the pastor, the Rev. Ben Towe officiating. Interment will be in New Armuchee Cemetery.
The body will lie in state at the residence until time for services and pallbearers are asked to meet there at 2:30 p.m. They are Robert L. Herman and W. G. Scoggins, Jr., Clarence ? Davis and C. L. Thompson. Jennings Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
