Francis S. Smith<BR>
<BR>
   Funeral services for Francis Roscoe Smith of 7 West Main St. who died
Friday, were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the South Broad Baptist Church
with  the Revs. Wallace Preast and Bernard Deakins officiating. Interment
was in Myrtle Hill Cemetery.<BR>
   Mr. Smith was born in Cherokee County Dec. 29, 1882, but spent most of
his life in Rome. Prior to retirement, he owned and operated the Central
Barber Shop on Broad Street. He was a member, deacon and Sunday School
teacher at the South Broad Baptist Church.<BR>
   Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.<BR>
