Mr. King
Horace C. King, 87, 16 W. Butler St., died Thursday at a Rome hospital
after a short illness.
Mr. King was born in Floyd County, Dec. 28, 1898, son of the late Thomas
W. King and Mary A. Padgett King. He was a long-time resident of Floyd
County and a member of Eden Valley Baptist Church. Prior to retirement, he
was employed by Battey Hospital, in the maintenance department for several
years.
Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Ruby Crider, Mrs. Betty Null and
Mrs. Elizabeth Rayburn, all of Rome, Mrs. Leona Isbell and Mrs. Ollie Peardon,
both of Calhoun, two sons, Roy King and Lewis King, both of Rome; 16
grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel of Talley
Brothers Funeral Home with the Revs. Joe Eaves and Curtis Edwards officiating.
Pallbearers are Ronnie Nix, Donald Crider, Lamar Smith, Jerry Warren, Lee
Hoyt Crider and William Narmore.
(Note: a notice by the funeral home in the
same paper included the fact that Horace King was preceded in death by a
daughter, Pearl Henry on Dec. 27, 1985 and by a brother Henry A. King June 9, 1984.
Horace died Jan. 23, is buried in Eastview Cem.)
