Henry L. Barnes, 76, died early Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C.A. Johnston, 7 Hughes Street, Rome.
He was a native of the Barneslay [sic] Gardens Community of Bartow County and had lived there his entire life. Mr. Barnes was the son of
Andrew Jackson Barnes and Adeline Potts Barnes.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Johnston, of Rome; one son, Horace Barnes, of Atlanta; one brother, N.J. Barnes, of Kingston; one sister,
Mrs. Lester Raper, of Bryonville. Eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday at the Connennsa [sic] Baptist Church, with the Rev. Melvin P. Smith and the Rev. Russell
Head officiating. Interment was in the family lot of Connennsa [sic] Cemetery.
Pallbearers were T.W. Adams, A.S.Adams, C.M. Taylor, Franklin Barnes, William Lanham and William Kerce.
