Joe Fred Self Killed Monday on Traintracks
Joe Fred Self, 19, of 300 Branham Avenue, was found dead on the Southern Railway tracks near the East Twentieth Street crossing this morning at 3 o'clock.
He was apparently run over by the north-bound through freight train shortly before that time.
A coroner's inquest was scheduled to be held this aftenoon at 4 o'clock at the Daniel & Son Funeral Home. The youth was badly mangled, both legs and an
arm having been severed, and his skull fractured.
Self was the son of John H. Self, of this city. He was formerly employed with the C.I.T. corporation. Besides his father, he is survived by one brother,
Donald Self, of Dallas, GA.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock in the chapel of the Daniel & Son Funeral Home. The Rev. A.B. Carnes will officiate, with
interment in the Mizpah cemetery.
Pallbearers will include Austin Crowe, Lawrence Patrick, Bud Stokes, Bunk Salmon, Andrew Mathis and Red Rash.
