J. Frank Spurlin, 76 109 Northwood Drive, died Saturday evening at a Rome hospital. Mr. Spurlin, a native of Pike County,
was born Oct. 16, 1908, the son of Charlie W. Spurlin and Minnie Terrell Spurlin. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Prior to retirement in 1975, Mr. Spurlin was employed by Floyd County as assistant manager of roads for 19 years. He was a
member of the Fifth Avenue Baptist Church and was a charter member of the Rome Symphony Orchestra. Survivors include his wife,
the former Elsie Carroll Willingham, to whom he was married June 21, 1984; a sister, Mrs. Gerell Myers, Rome; two brothers,
Charlie Spurlin, Rome, and James Spurlin, Holmes Beach, Fla.; a step-daughter, Mrs. Jeanette Down, Santa Barbara, Calif.;
nieces and nephews and step-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel of Daniel's Funeral
Home with the Rev. Larry Burgess officiating. Interment will be at East View Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jim Bryson, John
Carruth, Charles Higgins, Steve White, Otha Youngblood and Willie Reese.
