Mrs. Freeman

Mrs. Jessie Mathis Freeman, 78, of 301 Strand St., died Saturday morning at a Rome hospital.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Freeman was born Dec. 3, 1908, the daughter of Morgan Mathis and Eula Davis Mathis. She was employed by Anchor Rome Mills for several years before beginning employment with Advance Glove Company, where she worked for many years also. She was a member of McFall Baptist Church and the Lorine Jackson Sunday School Class. Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her husband, Thollie W. Freeman, July 22, 1986, to whom she was married Dec. 8, 1924.
Survivors include a son, David Freeman, Rome; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Childers and Mrs. Carrie Ball, both of Rome; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Boss, Kingston, Mrs. Sue Miller, Summerville and Mrs. Sarah Ramsey, Chattanooga, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Dewey Atchley officiating.
