James Wilson Bing, 79, prominent retired farmer of Rome Rte. 5 died
Sunday afternoon at his residence following an illness of about three years,
his condition becoming serious about nine weeks ago.
Mr. Bing was born in Franklin County, March 21, 1881, son of the late
Thomas and Neta Caroline Sexton Bing.
He was one of the oldest member of the Little Creek Baptist Church having
been a member since 1905. He was ordained a deacon in 1929 and had served as
chairman and former treasurer. He was a member of the Woodman of the World.
Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Pearl Alexander, to whom he
was married in 1903; one son, Jackson Bing of Rome; four daughters, Mrs.
Clyde Ware, Mrs. C. H. McDonald, Mrs. C.L. Martin and Mrs. G. H. Manning,
all of Rome; four brothers, J. L. Bing of Rome, R.S. Bing of Montgomery,
Ala., L. F. Bing of Jonesboro, and Lum Bing of Rome; two sisters, Mrs. Essie
Holbrooks of Jonesboro and Mrs. George Micchan of Atlanta.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3 p.m. in Little Creek
Baptist Church with the Rev. D. H. Allred and the Rev. C. W. Tucker
officiating. Interment will be in Beech Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will include six nephews, J. P. Bing, Otis Bing, Leonard
Bing, T. B. Bing, Albert Bing and Robert Bing.
The body will be at the residence to lie in state until the funeral hour.
Daniel's Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements.
