Mr. J. W. Pruitt, age 73, of 31 Alabama Street, Cave Springs, GA., passed away Wednesday, December 30, 1998. Mr. Pruitt was born July 21, 1925 in Cherokee County, Ala., and was a member of Community Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Pruitt was a retired self-employed construction worker and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Annie Story Pruitt and Lester Monroe Pruitt. Survivors include his wife Elsie Smith Pruitt of Cave Spring, Ga.; two sons, Johnny L. Pruitt and Ronny Pruitt, both of Cave Spring, Ga., three sisters, Lorene Mullinax of Rome, Ga., Gladys P. Wingo of Marietta, Ga. And Evelyn Smith; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. Pruitt were conducted Saturday, January 2, 1999 from the chapel of the Gammage Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Clements officiating. Interment followed in Cave Spring Cemetery with full military rites conducted by the Brewster Cleveland Post #86. Pallbearers included Steve Pruitt, Bradley Smith, Travis Smith, Chris Jacobs, Greg Wingo, and Tim Wingo. Honorary pallbearers included nephews. Gammage Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
