James W. Thrash
James Wright Thrash, 77, Lovell Road, Rome Rte. 4 died Sunday morning
in a Rome hospital following several months' illness.
Mr. Thrash was born in Floyd County April 21, 1890, son of the late James
W. and Ellen Lovell Thrash, pioneer settlers of Floyd County and had lived
here all of his life. He was a building contractor and a farmer, prior to
his retirement. Mr. Thrash was married Jan. 16, 1909 to the former Miss
Katie Estelle Freeman who survives. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley
North Baptist Church.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, J.W. Thrash, Jr. of Rome Rte.
4, William E. Thrash and Herman Thrash of Rome; three daughters, Mrs. Albert
Vaughan (Vaughn) of Marietta, Mrs. J. L. Newton and Mrs. H. M. Stephens of
Rome; one sister, Mrs. Claude Reeves of Atlanta; one brother, Elliott Camp, of
Rome; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be conducted today at 4 p.m. in the chapel of
the Stevens-Davenport Funeral Home with the Revs. Paul Willis and Russell
Head officiating. Interment was to follow in East View Cemetery. Six
grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
