Mrs. Mary Freeman Dies At Age of 90; Funeral Tomorrow

Mrs. Mary Freeman, 90, a member of a pioneer Floyd County family, of 2 Blanche Ave., died Tuesday at 3:15 p.m. in a Rome convalescent home following an illness of several months.
Mrs. Freeman was born Feb. 8, 1866, daughter of the late Samantha King and Samuel Drummond and spent the greater part of her life in Floyd County. She had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Gross for 16 years.
Mrs. Freeman, the former Miss Mary Drummond, was married to Jeff Freeman, who preceded her in death several years ago. She was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Gross and Mrs. J.W. Thrash, Sr., both of Rome; seven sons, E.D. Freeman, Waco, Tex., C.G., J.W., J.F., W.C., D.B. and T.W. Freeman, all of Rome; 56 grandchildren, 98 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Wax Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Willard Willis, pator of the Spring Creek Baptist Church officiating, with interment in Wax Cemetery.
Six grandsons will serve as pallbearers. They are Clifton Freeman, Davis Freeman, William Thrash, Winston Freeman, Irvin Fricks and Charles Gross.
The body will lie in state at Daniel Funeral Home until 1:30 p.m. Thursday when it will be removed to the church to lie in state until time for the services.
