SERENA C. GOAD, Came To Oklahoma 50 Years Ago To Lindsay in 1903.

Mrs. Serena C. Goad, aged mother of Mrs. Josh Goldston passed at the home of her daughter Monday, January 9, 1939 after a short illness of pneumonia. Funeral services were held at the Baptist Church, Lindsay, Tuesday, January 10, Rev. Chas. Black, pastor officiating. Interment was in the Erin Springs cemetery. Mrs. Goad was born at Rome, Georgia, May 28, 1853 and moved with her family to Texas when 17 years of age and was united in marriage to Mr. R.W. Goad, at Dexter, Texas, at the age of 22. This couple moved to the vicinity of Ardmore some 50 years ago moving to Lindsay in 1903, living here form that time until whe was called to her reward. She is survived by four sons, W.S. Goad of Selenia, California; Clyde Goad of Alex, Oklahoma; Dan Goad of Marlow, Oklahoma; L.W. God of Pheonix, Arizona; and three daughters, Mrs. Josh Goldston of Lindsay, Oklahoma; Mrs. J.E. Demony of Ardmore, Oklahoma; and Mrs. Alice Lewis of Atwook, Oklahoma. All the children save the son in Arizona was at her beside when the death angle called. Other surviving relatives include a host of grand and great grand children. Out of town friends attending funeral service were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Burks, Mrs. Neva Williams and Miss Bettie Burks of Marlow; Mrs. and Mrs. Wevils, John Looney, Clifforn Dozier and Mr. Story of Alex."
