W. L. Aycock Passes Today
William L. Aycock, age 61, of 1307 Avenue B, passed away at the residence this
morning at 10:45 o'clock. Mr. Aycock had been in declining health for the past two
months.
Mr. Aycock had resided in Rome and Foyd County for the past 60 years and had been
a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church for the past twenty years.
Surviving are the widow, the former Nancy Jones; three sons, E.J. and W.M. of
Rome and R.M. Aycock of the United States Army, at Camp Sims, Washington, D.C.; one
daughter, Miss Mozelle Aycock, of Rome; three brothers, D.N.,R.C. and M. A. Aycock,
all of Rome; one sister, Mrs. Ola Melton, of Copperhill, Tenn. Six grandchildren, a
number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held from the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Friday
afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, with the Rev. R. L. Whitehead and the Rev. H.F. Joyner
officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Valley cemetery. Six nephews will
serve as pall bearers.
