| HERNDON | JBynum1061@aol.com Subject: Herndons - Hearndons for Foxdogs@aol.com Foxdog: In the 1850 census of Forsyth County, Ga, 34th district (two page numbers given: 353 & 167) Samuel Paxton, Assistant Marshal) are listed my Great-great-grand-parents: David W. and Catharine Nicely and their 5 children, including Elizabeth, my Greatgrandmother. Catharine's maiden name was Denning (which Mr. Paxton spells Dinning.) Next door are Caleb Hearndon and his wife Arminda and their niece Martha A. (you suppose for Arminda) Fry, and Arminda's mother (and my Great-greatgrandmother) Margaret Denning. Next door to them are Joel and Sarah Hearndon and their children, Caleb, Arminda, Margaret, Catharine, and 7 others. In the next house are William and Margaret Fry and their daughter Margaret, and 3 more whose names furnish the inspiration for the names of Elizabeth Nicely's 3 daughters, my great aunts: Mary, Sarah, and Julia Ann. Probably, if you are related to the Hearndons, there are many of your family listed on this and earlier and later pages. James Bynum |

| HOWARD | Name: Wayne Howard
<venturehoward@bellsouth.net>
Date: 2004-12-11 The Thomas Hood Dwelling in the 1860 census should be the Thomas Howard Dwelling. The following dwelling listed in the 1860 census of Forsyth Co., Ga. is incorrect.
HOOD, Thos. 30m B.Smith S.C. Thomas B. Howard is my ggg-grandfather. He is the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Howard, who are listed in the 1850 census of Forsyth Co., GA. Thomas B. Howard was married to Martha E. Crane on Dec. 7, 1851 in Forsyth Co., GA. I have a copy of the marriage licece from the Ga. State Archive. Martha E. Crane was the daughter of Hiram H. Crane and wife Elizabeth. H. H. Crane and wife, E. Crane are buried at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery. Thomas B. Howard died sometime just before or after Oct. of 1862 and probably died serving in the Confederate Army. His youngest child who was also named Thomas B. Howard was born on Oct. of 1862 in Alabama. The children of Thomas B. Howard and Martha E. Crane were as follows: Mary E. Howard married Samuel Warren Miller on Oct. 17, 1872 in Dawson Co., Ga. by John C. Singleton, N.P. Samuel Warren Miller was the son of Samuel and Emily Miller. The Samuel and Emily Miller Family were members of Concord Baptist Church and are also listed in the 1860 census of Forsyth Co., GA. Jeremiah A. Howard, my gg-grandfather, married Anna Lucinda Barnwell on Oct. 7, 1874 in Dawson Co., Ga. by D. J. Burt, M.G. and both are buried at New Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery. Anna was the daughter of William Warren Barnwell and Martha Melinda Barnwell, who were buried at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. William H. Harrison Howard married Julia A. Bennett on Dec. 18, 1877 in Forsyth Co., Ga. per Forsyth Co., Ga. Marriage Book E, Page 63. This marriage record confirms the parents of W. H. H. Howard as Thomas B. Howard, deceased and Martha E. Crane. Julia A. Bennet was the daughter of Berry Bennett and Emily Adeline Martin, who were buried at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery. The child listed as Sarah, appears to be Nancy J. Howard. Nancy was never married and is listed in the June 16, 1900 census of Fulton Co., Ga. 17th District, Fulton Co., GA, Enumeration Districrt 47, Page 18A, Line 87 along with mother Martha Crane-Howard-Roper and sister Mary E. Howard-Miller. Thomas B. Howard, Jr. married Louvenia J. Freeman on Apr. 8, 1883 in Forsyth Co., Ga. by A. Sheffield, M.G. and is listed in the Forsyth Co., Ga. Marriage Book E, Page 332 The Thomas B. Howard, Jr. and Louvenia J. Freeman family was listed on July 27, 1900 in Forsyth Co., Ga. census in the Cumming District No. 879 in Household 327.
I beleive that the reason that Thomas B. Howard, Sr. was listed as Thomas Hood in error was because he had an older sister named Mary A. Howard who was the wife of Jesse Hood.
I would be interested in talking to anyone related to any of these families. |

| HUNTER | lyngar@indco.net I am looking for information on the Hunter family of Forsyth Co. My great great grandfather was Thomas Hunter, he was born around 1813 in maybe Columbia Co. He was living in Jackson Co. in the 1830's and moved to Forsyth Co. somewhere around 1835. He married Nancy Martin a year of two later. Somewhere around 1860 he moved to Milton Co. and died in 1871 and is buried in Union Cemertery with wife I think. My great grandfather was James Harvey Hunter, he married Martha Louise Brown maybe in Forsyth Co. about 1866 and was in Milton Co. in 1880 before moving his family to TX. I think Thomas and James Hunter were in Forsyth Co. in 1870, but I think some of the census pages must be missing because I can't find them nowhere. I know two of Thomas sons where there, Thomas and William. Do you have any information on this family ? What kind of lookups can I have done ? Do you know of anyone that might know of this family ? I do not know who Thomas mother or dad was. I know there was a Hance Hunter in Forsyth Co. but do not know who he was. : Johnhy Garrett Jr. |
