Gilmer County Court Records

As a general rule, most of the records of interest to genealogy come from the Probate Courts of Georgia.  The Probate Court is that court charged with marriage licenses, the probate of wills or intestate estates, and guardianships.  We cannot, however, ignore the Superior Courts of Georgia.  The Superior Courts have jurisdiction over divorces, adoptions and real property (real property records are records of the Superior Court in the county where the property is located).
