James Luther Moore and Lucy Cunningham, lived in Gordon County in 1850. Both from South Carolina. Moved to Marshall County bet 1852 - 1856. Any ideas would be helpful.

My name is Kay Monroe Florence and I am trying to gather infomation on the family of David Monroe and Joseph Monroe.Joseph Monroe was married to Emilt Offit and their children were Amelia Emeline and a son named Thomas E. David.

They were married on Sept.18,1849 in Resaca, Gordon Ga.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really new at this.

• I am researching the Pass family of Calhoun,GA. My paternal grandmother, Annie Mae Pass was born: 5/14/1901 in Calhoun. Her parents were William J. Pass born 12/20/1873 in TN and Mae King Pass born 5/29/1880 in GA. The 1920 census records list Annie Mae as married to John Tate. I'm specifically looking for information on the marriage as well as John Tate.

Silk, Upson Alonzo, born near Rome, GA on Jan 1, 1860, parents were John Wesley Silk (went to Civil War and never came back) and Harriet Matilda Graham-Silk.

My great-grandfather was John Matthew Shelhorse (b. May 15, 1845 d. Dec 18, 1933) who was born in Gordon County and served in Talbott's Cavalry Scouts of the Georgia State Line during the War Between the States. In 1870 he married Louisa Adeline Mealor "Liza" (b. Feb 25, 1850 d. Feb 10, 1885) before moving from Gordon County to Union Church, MS and, later, to Cleburne, TX. After Liza died, he married her sister, Martha Ann Mealor (b. Jan 1, 1859 d. Aug 17, 1909). Liza and Martha were both from Georgia. There was a Mealor serving in John's Cavalry company. I have a photograph of Liza and Martha's father which is labelled "Mr. Mealor". Noow for my question; does anyone know anything about the Mealor family in Gordon County? I have never been able to identify Mr. Mealor. This is the only dead-end I reached in my family research. I am researching the Tidwell family history. My grandfather was "Andrew C Tidwell". My great grandfather was "John Clayton Tidwell" & my great grandmother was "Sarah Croy". I have most of the information on my grandfather but very little on my great grandparents. I know they lived in Gordon County during the 1900 Federal Census. Any help would be appreciated.

Timms/Tims/TemmsI am searching for any information on George W. Timms and his first wife, Elizabeth Timms. I have already found them along with two daughters in the 1860 Gordon County Georgia census. The two daughters are Margaret (age 6) and Amanda (age 10 months). George joined the Confederacy on July 4, 1861. His regiment was G Co. 21st Inf Reg. GA. The regiment surrendered in Virginia in 1865. He returned home to no wife nor children. I have found that Elizabeth was arrested by Union soldiers and taken to Louisville where she died. I have also heard the children were taken to Atlanta. George remarried to Mary Ritchie in SC. They lived in Oconee County, then in Greenwood County where they are buried. I do not know Elizabeth's maiden name nor where the children ended up. Any information would be appreciated.

• My great-great grandfather Julius Luther Ward was born in Rome, Georgia 7 Feb 1857 and married Sarah Cornelius Fowler somewhere in Gordon County 3 Sep 1876. The family lived in Sugar Valley, GA for many years. I am looking for a copy of CLIMB THE HILLS OF GORDON by Jewell B. Reeve, 1962, reprinted 1979.
