Obit in the Cairo Messenger Oct 7, 1932 as follows:
MRS. GRIFFIN DIES THURSDAY: AGE 98

Beloved Lady Said To Be County's Oldest White Resident; Funeral Friday.
Mrs. M. V. Griffin, a beloved lady, said to be Grady County's oldest white resident, passed away at her home 6 ½ miles north of Cairo about 7:30 o'clock Thursday morning. According to the best available records, she was about 98 years of age.
Mrs. Griffin displayed remarkable vitality and was conscious until the end came. She enjoyed fairly good health, despite her ripe age, until she became ill about a week ago. Until her final illness, she was able to do much of her own work, such as cooking and other household duties, and this caused much comment among her many relatives and friends.
Her long life was one of much usefulness and was marked by an unusual devotion to her family and friends. Early in life, she joined the Methodist Church and remained faithful to her church vows. Funeral and interment, will be at Tired Creek Church today, Friday. Rev. C. L. Wall, pastor of the Cairo Methodist Circuit, will probably be in charge.
Surviving are four sons: J. Lloyd Griffin, Mi(a)mi, Walter Griffin, Ybor City, Fla., Tom and Robert Griffin, of Cairo; and four daughters: Mrs. Sissie Mills, Miami, Mrs. Simmie Barber, Ybor City, Fla., Mrs. Sealy Taylor, Florida; and Mrs. Dan Hughes, of this county. A number of grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.
