PIERCE'S CHAPEL CEMETERY Located on Pierce's Chapel Road, just north of Hwy. 84 on the left side (west) of the road. There is no nearby Chapel-just the cemetery. This survey was made on May 25, 2000 by Christine M. Burton. I revisited it in April 2001. There appears to have been a major clean-up/fix-up in this cemetery during the past year, with quite a few old graves with unreadable stones, having small new marble markers with vital statistics added. It really helped. This cemetery is well cared for but there are still a lot of unmarked graves and stones that are unreadable. I believe that there are a lot of graves that cannot even be guessed at. There is quite a lot of very flat land without any small mounds or other unevenness to indicate graves but I believe graves are there and the reason is that I stepped on what appeared to be unoccupied ground several times, only to find myself sinking. Watch your step when visiting this cemetery. Also, if you visit it in warm weather, wear insect repellent. Gnats are worsein this area than in any I visited.
