The list below will provide you with much early history about the
settlers, businesses, acts of the commissioners, etc. and provides a
great deal of genealogical and historical information that will help you
in your research. To research the counties in Georgia "you must
know the history of the places you are researching". I can not
stress that enough. These counties changed boundaries often and
that creates problems for researchers when they do not know how these
counties are laid out, when they changed, etc.
These Histories of Towns and Cities of Gwinnett will give you the
information from J. C. Flanigan's History of Gwinnett County
perspective, and modern day information. This is a work in
progress, so updates will continue and PLEASE, if you have any photos,
stories, records of any type that pertain to these areas, please share
them with this website. I will put them up in the format you want
them in, html, text, pdf, etc.
I like the pdf files because it allows those that have problems reading
smaller print to be able to read them and they still hopefully look
nice.
The following files are in PDF format,
they will open in
Adobe Acrobat Reader on your computer. You can click with
your mouse to go to the next page in the document, and hit
ESCAPE to get out of the document and return to where you
were before. If for some reason you do not have Adobe
Reader it is available as a free download at
