Another one I don't remember where I got it. Hwy 123 runs from
Toccoa through Cornelia through Alto & Lula. Don't think I have been there
either.

application dated 1911, Habersham Co., Ga." States: Born May 2, 1847, Ga.;
enlisted May 1864, Clarkesville, Ga.; Co. A, 52nd Ga.; Surrendered April 1865,
North Carolina. Pension Witnessed by R.S. Dover, and T.T. Fry of the same
command. He is not listed in Henderson's "Rosters of the Confederate Soldiers of
Ga.", Vol. 5
Anderson, Mrs. L.E. (Lucy E. Ayers)---Oct 28, 1849---Sept. 3, 1923: w/o J.E.
Anderson. Married Habersham Co., Ga. Oct. 30, 1872. Ref.: "Marriage Records of
Habersham Co."
Dawkins, A.M. (Alfred)---Co. E, 16th Ga. Inf.: C.S.A. Ref.: "Pension application
dated 1898, Habersham Co., Ga." States: Born April 23, 1841, resided in Ga. from
the date of birth, enlisted July 1861, Co. E, 16th Regt. Ga. Vols.; Cobb's
Brigade, Sept. 14, 1862, Maryland, while engaged in Battle of Crampton's Gap,
Md., shot in left hand, from back of hand, coming out through joint of middle
finger, from which wound the entire left arm inflamed, necessitating the removal
of the muscles in left arm from fingers to near arm pit. Surrendered April 6,
1865. Witnesses: Wm. Ivester, Aaron Shirley, Roland Shirley, same command.
Believe he is listed in the 1850 Habersham Co. Census in the household of: John
Dockins 42 yrs. Born S.C.: Mary 44 yrs. Born Ga.: C. 13 yrs. (Male): J.A. 11
yrs. (female): E. 10 yrs. (Female): A.(believe this is Alfred) 9 yrs.: J. 7 yrs.
(Male): W. (no age or sex given): J. 3 yrs. (male): W. 1 yr. (male)
Dawkins, Martha Wheeler---w/o Alfred M. Dawkins. If buried here no marked grave:
Married in Habersham Co. Ga. however no date is listed in the marriage records.

Simpson, W.T. ---Oct. 13, 1849---May 13 1924: C.S.A. Co. C. Young's Battn. Cav.,
White Co. He filed for pension in Habersham Co., Ga. He was a witness for the
following pension applications: James Austin of Habersham Co., Ga.: and Mrs. W.S.
Maynors of Habershem Co, Ga. Ref.: "Index to Ga. Confederate Pension Files" by
Virgil White, 1996.
