Hicks, Janice Dodd
Aug. 11, 1951-April 29, 2002
Janice Dodd Hicks, 50, of Alto died Monday at a private nursing home following
an extended illness. Born in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late
Leroy Dodd. She was a homemaker and was of the Holiness faith. She was
salutatorian of the class of 1969 at South Habersham High School and was a
graduate of North Georgia Technical School. Survivors include her son, Dwayne
Hicks, Alto; mother, Lillian Dodd, Alto; brother, Franklin Dodd, Alto; and
sisters, Merle Morris, Cornelia, and Denise Lovell, Alto. The family will
receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family also is at the residence of the sister, Denise Lovell, 765 Alonzo
Wade Road, Alto. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1,
2002, at McGahee-Griffin & Stewart Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jacob
Armour, the Rev. Jeff Lovell and the Rev. Anthony Shore will officiate. Burial
will be in Dodd Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that
contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, P.O. Box
