Ivester, Violet Willene Whisenant
Graveside services for Violet Willene Whisenant Ivester, 83, of Clarkesville
were held Saturday, June 15, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery. The Rev.
Furman Lewis and the Rev. George Deadwyler officiated. Mrs. Ivester died
Thursday, June 13, 2002, at her residence following an extended illness. Born in
Habersham County on May 31, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and
Ida Youngblood. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, a homemaker and a
couturier seamstress before working and retiring from International Outerwear in
Clarkesville. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Buford Whisenant;
second husband, Henry A. Ivester; and a granddaughter, Wisa Jeanine Sands.
Survivors include her stepdaughter, Ruth I. Rollins of Greenville, S.C.; son,
Buford Whisenant of Clarkesville; daughter, Florence W. Sands of Clarkesville;
granddaughter, Dee Couter of Clarkesville; grandsons, Evan Whisenant of
Clarkesville, Phil Sands of Helen; and great-grandson, Wesley Couter of
Clarkesville. Memorials may be made to Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund,

Hill, William Noah Sr.
Funeral services for William Noah Hill Sr., 95, of Demorest will be held
today, June 21, at 2 p.m. at Hillside Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Furman Lewis and
the Rev. George Deadwyler will officiate with burial in Bethlehem Baptist Church
Cemetery. Mr. Hill died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Wayne County Memorial
Hospital, Jesup, following an extended illness. Born in Habersham County on
March 22, 1907, he was a son of the late Jeff and Mollie Kimsey Hill. He was a
member of Attica Baptist Church, and was retired from Fieldale Farms. He was
preceded in death by his wife, Emma Ford Hill; daughters, Betty Hunsinger, Doris
Porterfield; and grandchildren, Tim English, Mark Porterfield and Wanda
Porterfield. Survivors include his daughters, Vivian English of Demorest, Dupree
Groover of Ludowici, Agnes Chastain of Talking Rock; sons, William Noah Hill Jr.
of Demorest, Thomas Hill of Demorest; brother, Ernest Hill of Colorado Springs,
Colo.; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-
grandchildren. Hillside Memorial Chapel, Clarkesville, is in charge of
arrangements.
Eller, Pauline Nation
Funeral services for Pauline Nation Eller, 78, of Cleveland will be held
today, June 21, at 2 p.m. at Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel. The Rev.
Kenneth Pilcher and the Rev. Jerry Marcus will officiate with burial in Amys
Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Eller died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at
Habersham County Medical Center following an extended illness. Born in White
County on Feb. 8, 1924, she was a daughter of the late James Harve and Sinda
Ledford Nation. Mrs. Eller was a homemaker and a member of Amys Creek Baptist
Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roosevelt M. Eller; son, James
Eller; brother, Floyd Nation; and sisters, Flonie Herron and Flora Bell Pardue.
Survivors include her daughter, Frances West of Cleveland; son, Charles R. Eller
of Clarkesville; sisters, Katie Mae Franklin of Clarkesville, Estelle Marcus of
Belton, S.C.; brother, James J.C. Nation of Clarkesville; five grandchildren;
and 10 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.

Bowden, Forrest Lee
GASTONIA, N.C. Funeral services for Forrest Lee Bowden, 69, of
Gastonia, N.C., were held Wednesday, June 19, at Grace Baptist Church. The Rev.
Brian Wright, the Rev. Don Mott and the Rev. Clarence McMahan officiated with
burial in Gaston Memorial Park. Mr. Bowden died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Gaston
Memorial Hospital. A native of Habersham County, he was a son of the late E.B.
and Mary Bowden. He was a lifelong member of Grace Baptist Church and was
retired from the A.G. Boone Company in Charlotte, N.C. He was preceded in death
by his first wife, Manolia Bowden. Survivors include his wife, Sarah Bowden of
Gastonia, N.C.; son, David Lee Bowden of Gastonia, N.C.; stepson and wife, Bill
and Debbie Jefferies of Gastonia, N.C.; stepson, Tommy Jefferies of Gastonia,
N.C., Joey Jefferies of Boone, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law, Gloria Bowden and
Chris Mann of Gastonia, N.C.; stepdaughters and husbands, Kaye and Mike Self,
Frances and Lonnie Beavers, all of Gastonia, N.C.; sister-in-law and husband,
Loyd and Marion Bowden of Athens; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren;
nine stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Memorials may be made

Brotherton, Claude L. Jr.
Funeral services for Claude L. Brotherton Jr., 65, of Clarkesville will be
held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 30, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel. Pastor
Ryan Smith and the Rev. Wayne Morris will officiate. Burial will follow in
Harvest Christian Church Cemetery with the Rev. Ronald Mote officiating at
graveside. Mr. Brotherton died Friday, June 21, 2002, at his residence following
an extended illness. Born in Lewis County, N.Y., on Aug. 13, 1936, he was the
son of the late Claude Leon Sr. and Curetta Burkhard Brotherton. He was preceded
in death by his first wife, Joyce Jones Brotherton; and brother, John Brotherton.
Mr. Brotherton was retired from the U.S. Air Force with 23 years of service,
having served in the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was also retired
from the U.S. Postal Service with 23 years of service. Mr. Brotherton was a
member of Harvest Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Diane Allen
Brotherton; daughter, Pamela Lowe of Clayton; stepdaughters, Candy Adkins of
Demorest, Cyndi Simmons of Martin; sons, Raymond Brotherton and Stanley
Brotherton, both of Clarkesville, Leon Brotherton of Lake Burton; stepson,
Michael Gannon of Lillington, N.C.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-
grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-3 p.m.
and 6-9 p.m. on Saturday, June 29. Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel,

Wilburn Richard Ricky Pritchett
HOMER Funeral services for Wilburn Richard Ricky Pritchett, 43, of
Homer were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, at New Bethel Baptist Church. The
Rev. Tommy Childress officiated with burial in the church cemetery. Mr.
Pritchett died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at his residence. Born in Stephens
County on Nov. 4, 1958, he was a construction worker and was of the Baptist
faith. He was preceded in death by his father, James Wilburn Pritchett; and son,
Lucas Wilburn Pritchett. Survivors include his wife, Tammy Annette Yearwood
Pritchett; mother, Louvie Mae Ervin Pritchett of Homer; daughter, Jasmine
Rhianna Pritchett of the home; stepdaughters, Miranda Elizabeth Yearwood of
Cornelia, Desire Marcella Yearwood of Baldwin; sisters, Cindy Purdy of Baldwin,
Karen Stryker of McDonough; and brothers, Terry Pritchett of Homer, Nelson
Pritchett of Homer, Stanley Pritchett of Demorest. Ginn Funeral Home,

Ferguson, Mable Pritchett
Graveside services for Mable Pritchett Ferguson, 87, of Demorest were held
at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at Crestlawn Memorial Park, Atlanta. The Rev.
Dwight Adams and the Rev. Charles Taylor officiated. Mrs. Ferguson died Monday,
June 24, 2002, at a private residence following an extended illness. Born in
Habersham County on April 20, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Louis and
Alvie Free Pritchett. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Terrell
Ferguson; brothers, Jack Pritchett, M. L. Pritchett, Messer Pritchett; and
sisters, Gladys Pritchett York and Bonnie Pritchett Church. Mrs. Ferguson was
retired from Atlanta Finance Company and was a member of Park Avenue Baptist
Church, Decatur. Survivors include her sister, Dorothy Pritchett York of
Demorest; a number of nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Lois Heaton of
Hollywood. Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel, Demorest, was in charge of
arrangements.
Downer, Harry Lee
Funeral services for Harry Lee Downer, 67, of Cornelia will be held at 2
p.m. Saturday, June 29, at Mountain View Baptist Church. The Rev. James Harvey,
the Rev. Racheo Lacey and Michael Welch will officiate, with burial in the
church cemetery. Mr. Downer died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at his residence
following an extended illness. Born in Lilesville, N.C., on March 3, 1935, he
was the son of the late Joe and Maggie Bailey Downer. He was preceded in death
by a brother, Bruce Downer. Mr. Downer was retired from Habersham Hardware Home
Center as the paint store manager with 32 years of service. He was a member of
Mountain View Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Patsy English Downer
of Cornelia; daughter, Pam Kinney of Cornelia; sons, Thomas Mitchell Downer and
William Douglas Downer, both of Cornelia, Brian George Downer of Mt. Airy;
sisters, Diane Welch, Carol Freeman, Ruth Paul, all of Wadesboro, N.C., Mary
Frances Poe of Mt. Gillead, N.C.; brothers, Joe Downer of Demorest, Herbert
Allen Downer of Palm Coast, Fla.; and five grandchildren. The family will
receive friends at the funeral home from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., today, June 28.

Wade, Rodney Lee
Funeral services for Rodney Lee Wade, 35, of Demorest were held at 1:30
p.m., Sunday, June 30, at Whitfield Funeral Home, North Chapel. Pastor Bobby
Griffin officiated with burial in Amys Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Wade
died Thursday, June 27, 2002, at his residence following a sudden illness. Born
in Habersham County on April 13, 1967, he was preceded in death by his father,
Mack Wade. Survivors include his wife, Juanita Canup Wade; mother, Ruby Thomas
Wade of Alto; daughters, Maggie Wade, Jessica Wade, both of Gillsville;
stepdaughter, Crystal Wade of Demorest; sons, Clayton Wade, Travis Lee Wade,
Rusty Daniel Wade, all of Demorest; sister, Melissa Wade of Lula. Whitfield

Moore, Willie Mae Harris
Funeral services for Willie Mae Harris Moore, 85, of Toccoa were held June
16 at 2 p.m. at Zebulon Baptist Church, Toccoa. Burial was in the church
cemetery. Mrs. Moore died Thursday, June 13, 2002, at Stephens County Hospital
following an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Bessie
Harris of Mt. Airy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Otis Moore; son,
Bill Moore; and brothers, Odell Harris, Ernest Harris, Joe Harris. Mrs. Moore
and her husband were owners of Moore’s Food Market in Toccoa for many
years. She was a member of Zebulon Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons,
Rodney Moore, Gary Moore, both of Toccoa; daughters, Kathryn Fry, Jean Cash,
both of Toccoa; sisters, Emma Lou Jones, Jimmie Boyd, Imogene Simpson, Betty
Fry, all of Mt. Airy; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Acrey-Davis
Funeral Home, Toccoa, was in charge of arrangements.
