The year 2006 marks the 150th anniversay ("sesquicentennial") of the creation of Haralson County, Georgia. To celebrate this anniversary, we have created this document, The 1856 Handbook, which examines many important aspects of human life, especially in the United States, during the year our county was born. While it does not pretend to be an encyclopedia of the year 1856, we hope the collection of frequently extended and/or illustrated exhibits in this handbook will help readers seriously visit a world long gone by and gain a much better understanding of how people during those times lived and thought.
