The May 8, 2006 meeting of the Haralson County Historical Society was called to order by Peggy Kimball, since President Karen Higgins was unable to attend. There were 8 present. The minutes from the April 10, 2006 meeting were approved as read by Secretary Jeri Ezell. Our Treasurer was not present but we were told that our balance was the same as in April ($8,078.41) with some bills pending. We are still waiting to find out about the Wade House. The motion was made and seconded, with a unanimous vote, to have Terrell McBrayer take our revised budget to the Commissioners. The Library Committee is waiting to continue with work on the vault until they find out about funds. We discussed the yard and the need to set up a permanent arrangement to have it mowed and taken care of regularly. The suggestion was made that we put a marker on the 4-lane saying that Buchanan is the home of Whitlow Wyatt. We need to find out why DBR needs another key. We need to trim limbs from trees on the grounds, they are a hazard. Ron has ordered all the parts for the sign, and says it will be up before the Fair on the Square. The election was held. The motion was made and seconded, with a unanimous vote, to accept the nominated officers, and also Helen Higgins as Festival Chair.
