The minutes from the February 13,2006 meeting were approved as read. Ann gave the Treasurer’s report. Our balance is $ 9952.66 with some bills pending, including $ 224.00 for the heating system repair. The motion was made and accepted with a unanimous vote to accept the Treasurer’s report. We received the paperwork for the Wade house, and are waiting to hear back about it. DBR is going to host the Festival on May 20. The family has agreed to accept the $500.00 for the mail carriage, and we plan to check with Milton Wood about repairing it. We want to see it added to the Street Scape, possibly with a brick foundation with a plexiglass cover. Building: The leak in the roof was dealt with. There are some missing shingles, but overall the roof seems to be in pretty good condition. The stairwell painting and repair is almost finished. Cleanup is underway. The heating and air is working. The Friends of the Library are planning to have the same people install the heating and air in the vault as the first phase of their development. The elevator contractor says he checked and almost all the water is gone and the downspout has been replaced. Work has begun on the Genealogical Library vault. There has been some cleanup and removal of some items. We need to get a written agreement with the county about what records we will keep here. There’s still a lot of talk going on about the Little Creek schoolhouse. Some want to relocate it and others want to leave it where it is. By-Laws: Terrell suggested that we change the by-laws to show co-president and 2nd and possibly 3rd vice-presidents. We also need to add Heritage Hall of Fame. The motion was made and seconded, with a unanimous vote, to accept these changes. Ron will print it out and Terrell will edit it. Karen asked Peggy to select a nominating committee for the coming elections. We discussed membership dues. We have decided to leave them as they are for now, with the option of offering one year membership free to new members as an incentive to join. We also need to notify members when their dues are due, which is in May. John Norton suggested an annual fundraiser instead of annual dues. Ray Hindman wants to put historical articles in the local papers, possibly about what happened 100 years ago today, or something similar. We are planning a work day for the vault on Saturday March 18, 2006. Heflin is having opening day for their Depot Museum on the same day, beginning at 10:00. Karen has talked to the Sons of the American Revolution, and will find out if they can come the day of the festival of if they would rather come to a meeting. We received in the mail a notice about a book called “Central of Georgia Railway Steam Locomotives and Trains. The motion was made and seconded, with a unanimous vote, to order the book for our library. DBR met 10 out of 10 of the state criteria necessary to their organization.
