The April 10, 2006 meeting of the Haralson County Historical Society was called to order by President Karen Higgins. There were 9 present. The minutes from the March 13, 2006 meeting were approved as read by Secretary Jeri Ezell. Anne Bannister gave the Treasurer’s report. With the phone bill pending, our balance was $8,078.41. The motion was made and seconded, with a unanimous vote, to accept her report. Terrell McBrayer wants to introduce Fred and Betty Sergeant for our Heritage Hall of Fame at next month’s meeting. The Nominating Committee, made up of Peggy Kimball, Clovis Momon, and John Norton, suggested these officers: President: Karen Higgins Co-President: Terrell McBrayer Vice-President: Peggy Kimball Secretary: Jeri Ezell Treasurer: Anne Bannister Publicity Chair: Ron Feigenblatt Festival Chair: ? Motion was made and seconded, with a unanimous vote to accept this slate of officers and continue looking for a Festival Chair. The suggestion was made to put an article in the paper about the merits of the county and the Historical Society. We also need to invite the newspaper to next month’s meeting. John Norton plans to do this. The Humane Society wants to meet here second Tuesdays at 7:00. DBR still plans to proceed with the Spring Festival in May. We want to incorporate the 150th anniversary of the county and/or Buchanan with our Fall Festival in September. We received the train book that we discussed ordering at last month’s meeting. FEMA received our letter. Our decision about the Wade House is still pending. We will discuss it next month. Ron is still trying to find the right materials for the sign. Barry Newman suggested trying Home Depot. The heating and air in the vault is finished. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
