These are resources that I've found particularly useful or interesting, or that others have recommended, and are listed in no particular order.

Cyndi's List ~ The ultimate index to genealogy on the Internet

Find A Grave ~ Millions of cemetery records

LDS FamilySearch ~ Free access to indexed records, many with attached images of original documents

Library of Congress Digital Collections ~ Includes such goodies as maps, historical newspapers

Bureau of Land Management, General Land Office Records ~ If you have relatives who headed west, don't miss this.

Public Domain Sherpa ~ Lots of good information on copyright law in general, plus places to find books and maps that are in the public domain

The Legal Genealogist ~ Explanations of old legal terms, information on copyright, and many other subjects of interest to genealogists

U. S. Census Bureau ~ Click on "Maps" on the left side of the screen to find current maps that you can download, customize, etc. This is where I found the map that I used as the basis for the county map on the main page of this website.

Documenting the American South ~ A digital publishing initiative that provides Internet access to texts, images, and audio files related to southern history, literature, and culture.

Civil War Index ~ Affiliated with LSU's Civil War Center; a tremendous resource for those of us who are a tad obsessed with "The Late Unpleasantness"

State of Georgia Genealogy, Facts and Records Resources ~ Georgia facts and links to Georgia counties as well as other websites
