"In the name of god Amen this 15th Day of May 1799 -
I Ischam Hendon of the County of Jackson and State of Georgia being Sick of Body
but of perfect mind and memory & Calling to mind the mortality of man that
it is once appointed for him once to Die do make and Ordain this as my last Will
and Testament and first of all Recommend my Soul to God Who gave it and as
touching Such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me with I Dispose
of in manner following Viz
Item I Lend? the Whole of my Estate Real & personal after my just
Debts are paid unto my loveing wife Patiance during Life or Widowhood for the
use of Raising & Educating my Children & at her death or marriage my
Will and desire is that the Remainder of the Estate Real & personal be Sold
at the discration of my Executor & Executrix & an Equal divide to be
made of the proffits arising therefrom between my Wife Patiance and all my

"In the name of God, Amen. I John Pendergrass of the county and State
aforesaid, being in health sound and disposing mind and memory, and desiring to
prepare in health for the contingency of death, now make this my Last will and
testament, hereby revoking all others made by me. Item the first. It
is my will and desire that all of my just debts be paid without delay, by my
Executors hereafter named.
Item 2nd. I give bequeath and devise to my son Levi Pendergrass, a Negro
man named Tilman and his wife Jenny and their two children to wit - John and
Henry forever in feesimple which is to be in full of his share of my Estate,
boath Real & Personal.
Item 3rd. I give and bequeath to my five grand children, the children of
Isaac Coleman to wit: - Thomas H. Coleman, Levi L. Coleman, John F. Coleman,
Sarah Coleman and Salina J. Gilleland, a Negro woman named Jane and her child
named Asbury and the increase of said Negros; Said Negros and their increase to
be equally divided between my said five grand children as aforesaid. Item
4th. I give and bequeath to the sole and separate use of my grand daughter
Sarah Coleman a Negro girl named Laura, for and during her natural life free
from the control, contracts and liabilities of any future husband of said Sarah
Coleman, and after her death, it is my will and wish that said Negro Laura and
her increase if any, shall equally divided between the children of my said grand
daughter Sarah, and if she should die without children or the representative of
children, then the said Negro and increase is to revert to the brothers and
Sisters of said Sarah. Item. the 5th. I give and bequeath to the sole and separate use of my grand Daughter Salena J. Gilleland wife of
W.J. Gilleland a Negro girl named Julia for and during her natural life, free
from the control, contracts and liabilities of the present and any future
husband of said Salena J. Gilleland, and after her death it is my will and wish,
that said Negro Julia and her increase if any shall be equally divided between
the children of my said grand Daughter Salena J. Gilleland, and if she should
die without children or the representative of children then the said Negro and

Item 6th. I give and bequeath and devise to my two grand sons Appling H.
Pendergrass and John F. Coleman, the tract of land Whereon I now reside, lying
in said county on Oconee River joining lands of Wm. Fen, Stewart McElhannon and
the Edwin Pendergrass tract, containing two hundred acres more or less, forever
in fee simple to be equally divided between th!
e said Appling H. & John F. share and share alike. Item the 7th.
I give and bequeath to my grand son Appling H. Pendergrass a Negro boy named
Marim, and one bed and furniture forever in fee simple. Item 8th. I
give and bequeath to my grand son John F. Coleman a Negro girl named Eliza, and
one bed and furniture forever in fee simple. Also a Sorrel Mare colt
called Jenny - Lind.
Item 9th I give and bequeath to my grand son John J. Pendergrass the sum
of five Hundred dollars in cash. Item 10th. I give and bequeath to
my grand Daughter Elizabeth B. Pendergrass, the sum of five hundred Dollars in
cash. Item 11th. I give, bequeath and devise to my two grand sons
Archilas H. Pendergrass & John J. Pendergrass sons of Edwin Pendergrass the
tract of land whereon Edwin Pendergrass resided at his death, and adjoining the
lands of James R. McCleskey & my home tract containing one hundred acres
more or less forever in fee simple, said tract of land to be equally divided
between the said Archilas H. & John J. Penergrass share and share
alike. Item 12th. I give and bequeath to my two grand Daughters,
children of my son Edwin Pendergrass Naomi J. Pendergass & Elizabeth C.
Pendergrass, to each of them the sum of five hundred dollars in cash.
Item. 13th. I give and bequeath to my grand daughter Francis C.
Pendergrass, daughter of my son Simon, the sum of three hundred dollars in
cash. Aslo one bed and furniture. Item 14th. Whereas on the
25th of January 1855 convey to Hugh M. Hodge in trust for my daughter Salina
Hodge one Negro woman named Harriett and her two children Margary and Amanda for
and during her natural life, and them to her children & on failure of
children them to be disposed of by my will I therefore will & direct that in
the event of the death of my said daughter Salina Hodge in that issue or
children then it is my will and devise that said Negro woman Harriett & her
two children Margury and Armanda & their increase shall go to & be
vested in heirs at Law to be equally divided between them. Item
15th. I give & bequeath to my daughter Mary H. Holiday, the sum of
seven hundred dollars in cash forever in fee simple.
Item 16th It is my will and desire that my grand son Appling H.
Pendergrass & John F. Coleman shall take care of & support my old
servant Tony, during his life, and I hereby make his support a charge on their
lands, devised in the 6th Item of this will.
Item 17th. It is my will and desire that my Executors shall divide the sum
of one hundred dollars amongst my Negros as follows to wit: To Tilman Fifteen
dollars, Jenny fifteen to Sampson fifteen dollars, to Mary fifteen dollars, to
Jane fifteen dollars, to Marion fifteen dollars, to Hester & Tony five
dollars.
Item 18th. It is my will and desire that all the ballance of my property
not herein-before specifically divided boath real and personal shall be sold by
my Executors hereafter named, on such terms as they shall think best and I
hereby Authorise said Executors to sell the whole or any part of said property
at private sale, if in their opinion Executors it shall be for the Interest of
my estate or conducive to the contentment and happiness of my slaves. Item
19th It is my will and desire that the balance of the money arising from
the sale of the property specified in the 18th Item of this will shall, after
paying off the monied legacies as aforesaid be equally divided amongst all the
Legatees named & specified in this will, except my son Levi Pendergrass and
Daughter Mary H. Holiday (and except also the Negros' Legatees) who are to have
no share in the residue of said fund as aforesaid.
Item 20th. In conclusion of the whole, I think I have in my judgement done
the best I could have done, and if any of my Legatees become dissatisfied and
commence any legal proceedings to set asid this will then I disinherit such
Legatees, and give the legacy of such one to the others of my Legatees.
Item 21st. I hereby nominate and appoint my friends N.H. Pendergrass &
P.F. Hinton my Executors to carry out & execute this will.

Elizabeth Lyle, Robert Boring, Phebe Johnson, Isaac Boring, Phebe Johnson having
regard to the property already given, and for which receipts are taken.
Item 5th. I give and bequeath to my daughter Susannah Tait five dollars,
to be paid to her by my Executor out of my money arising from the Sales of any
of my property.

Tracts Land in the County of Lee, two Tracts in the County of Gwinnett, one in
Jackson whereon David Thomas formerly and adjoining Waid Slaton, I give and
bequeath to my Children & Grand Children under the same rule and proportion
by which their several Legacies are herein before regulated. and that my
Executor do proceed to sell and dispose of the said Lands, as soon as it may be
thought by them to be most expedient and condusive to the Interest of the
respective Legatees, and that distribution of the proceeds thereof may be made.
Item 11th. It is to be understood as the true intent and meaning of the
foregoing Items making distribution of my property between my Children and Grand
Children, that each respective Family of Grand Children, are to be entitled to
no more than an Individual Child from whom they decended would be entitled, upon
an equal division of the whole property. It is also to be understood: that
by the word appurtenances, in the third Item, is intended to embrace Household
and Kitchen furniture, working Tools, or whatever may be found upon the premises
belonging to me.
Item 12th. It is my Will and desire that should both of my Grand Children,

hierless, that all the property bequeathed to them shall revert to my other

2nd I give and bequeath to my beloved grand son Nathan Williamson two lots of land Nos two hundred & thirty two and two hundred and fifty in the eighth district and one other lot of land No two hundred and fifty in the first district all originally of Henry County but now Butts County and two Negro boys one named Jack and the other Ben and a negro woman by the name of Rachel, and her increase.
3rdly I give and bequeath to my beloved son John Williamson all the residue of my property both real and personal.

I Samuel G. Hunter of said State & County being of sound and disposing mind
& memory but being somewhat advanced in life and desirous of making a
disposition of whatever worldly estate that I may die possessed of while in a
condition of body and mind to do so do now make and publish this my last will

Item 1st It is my will & desire that my beloved wife Mary E. Hunter
shall have my horse and best buggy and such bedding & furniture as she
brought to my home immediately after her marriage with me and also sewing
machine
Item 2nd To my grandchildren Samuel G. Hunter Samuel H. Wood Samuel R.
Copeland & Elizabeth Hunter daughter of my deceased Son James H. Hunter I
give & bequeath each the sum of ten Dollars to be taken from my estate
before division
Item 3rd I direct that the balance of my property or estate be equally
divided between my wife Mary E. Hunter and my children and grandchildren that is
to my daughter Martha Ann Wood one part to my daughter Margaret M. Copeland one
part to the children of my deceased son Jas H. Hunter one part & the son of
John P. Hunter one part to my wife Mary E. Hunter one part less the sum of one
hundred and twenty two dollars this being the amount paid for a tract of land in
Milton? County already deeded to her
Item 4th It is my desire that my Executor shall divide without sale my
personal clothing or wearing apparel equally amongst my grand sons
Item 5th I hereby nominate and appoint my friend and neighbor L.Y.

Thirdly It is my will that Starkey Hunter my son by my first wife have his
mothers feather bed and Bed stead and bed clothing and to get them at any time
he calls for them and to have nothing more of my Estate
Fourthly It is my will that all my estate be equally divided among my last
wife's Children after payment of my debts and one bed bedstead and Bed Clothing
and the equal share aforesaid to my wife It is my will that the part of my
Estate that incurs to my Daughters under this will be for their sole use and
benefit free from any control by any man they may hereafter marry.
Fifthly It is my will to sell a sufficiency of my perishable property to
pay my just debts and the bed aforesaid and for the remainder of my Estate to
remain as it is until my youngest child is Twenty one years of age.
Sixthly I hereby appoint Francis M. Holiday and Julia C. Hunter Executors
of this my last Will and Testament

her death said Rail Road stock be sold and the proceeds to be equally divided
amongst all of my children

dollars which he is to account for after accounting for the same, he is to have
one equal share of my estate with my other children
Item Eighth I have allready given to my son Cephas W. Mathews three
hundred dollars in property which he is to account for after which he is to have
one equal share of my estate with my other children
Item Ninth I have allready given to my daughter Caroline Grant three
hundred dollars which she is to account for after which I direct that she have
an equal share of my estate with my other children.
Item Tenth I have allready given to my Son Daniel J. Mathews three hundred
dollars which he is to account for after which he is to have one equal share of
my estate with my other children
Item Eleventh I have allready given to my daughter Nancy Edmusen three
hundred dollars which she is to account for after accounting for the same she is

personal property with my children and she is to have her choice as to my real

"In the name of God Amen I Joshua H. Randolph of the county and state
aforesaid being of sound mind and of disposing memory and Knowing that all men
must die do in view of death make and ordain this my last will and Testament in
manner and form following To wit
Item 1st It is my desire that all my just debts if any I may owe at the
time of my death be punctually paid.
Item 2nd I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Nancy Randolph the House
and Lot in the town of Jefferson on which I now reside with all its
appurtenances and seven Thousand dollars in cash a carriage and two horses worth
five hundred dollars such portion of my house hold & Kitchen furniture such
quantity of my stock of cattle hogs &c as she in her discretion may chose,
in fee simple and forever as well as four such negroes as She may make choice
of, all to be dispose of by her at her death either by will will or deed as she
may desire_
Item 3rd It is my will and desire that the balance of my estate both real
and personal be sold and equally divided among my several children to wit Nancy
A. Garrison Mary A. Thompson James E. Randolph Sarah J. Burns Hilliard J.
Randolph Susan C. McCoy and Frances E. Randolph in equal Shares subject however
before such division to the sum of four hundred dollars to each of my unmarried
children to place them each on equal terms with those who are married in the
event I may not during my life make the same advancements to any of the
unmarried children as I have already made to each of my married children.
Item 4th It is my will and desire that if any of my children as well those
already married as those unmarried or yet to marry shall die leaving neither
child or children the portion of my estate which may have fallen to such
deceased under the third Item in this will. Shall return to my estate and
be equally divided among my then surviving children.
Item 5th It is my desire that after my death and burial there shall be
placed at and around my grave a decent and suitable Box of Marble covered with a
Marble Slab containing appropriate inscription in dates &c and that the
graves of my son John W. Randolph and Joshua W. Randolph be finished off with a
similar Marble fixture and that the graves of my infant children be marked as my
family may think proper.
Item 6th I further will that in regard to the sale of the balance of my
estate as set forth in the third Item of this will, my children may if agreeable
among themselves and consistent with thes circumstances divide such part of my
property as can be divided without sale.
Item 6th I hereby nominate and appoint my wife Nancy Randolph and my son
James E. Randolph executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking
all other wills by me heretofore made

& Dorce Florance at the Expiration of her natural life or Widdowhood to be
Equally divided among my children
Fourthly - I Will that my whole estate be kept together subject to the controle
of my Executrix hereinafter appointed from the proceeds of which I desire that
my children receive a comon English education
Fifthly - I desire that as my children arrive at Lawful age or marry that the
whole estate be appraised and a childs part given to each to be taken from the
stock money or negros that may be thought most appropriate by my Executrix the
land not being subject this claim
Sixthly - I will and bequeath to my afflicted daughter Dorce? Florance over and
above the equal distribution herein before made one thousand dollars on account
of her helpless condition to be given either in money or appraised property when
she shall have attained to lawful or Married the portion awarded to her and the
heirs of her body
Seventhly - I hereby appoint my dear wife Elizabeth Reynolds to Execute this my
last will and testament
Eighth I now Solemnly declare all wills made by me prior to this date null and
void this the 14 day of July A.D. 1861

Freeman Miss Louisa A. Freeman was at olive? Rose House on the 24th December
1864 the evening that Francis M. Rose died and he stated that he wanted his
mother Mary A. Rose to have the following artickles to witt one mule one Bunch
of cotton yarn Three yards of jams? 2p yards of jams? and 14 yards of cotton
Cloth and his wages in confederate Service that was due him and Miss George Ann
Freeman was at the House of olive? Rose on the 13th December 1864 and Francis M.
Rose stated that he wanted his mother Mary A. Rose to have the above named
property all the Witnesses heard Francis M. Rose say that he was abought to die
& wanted his Intentions written out by his friend Louisa A. Freeman would
See that his wishes & desires in this regard were carried fully out

Last Will and testament of L.J. Farrabee.
I, L.J. Farrabee of said State and County being of sound and disposing mind and
memory, do make this my last Will and testament, hereby revoking all wills
heretofore made by me.
Item 1st I wish my executor, as soon as possible after my death to pay my
debts. If a sale of property shall be necessary, I wish him to select for
sale that personal property which can be most advantageously used for that
purpose, and I authorize him to sell the same at public or private sale, as he
may see fit.
Item 2. I give to my beloved sister Loonie Adams one third of my whole
estate after my debts are paid to go to her and the heirs of her body with the
exception of Roscoe Adams who is a son of my sister, who is not to receive
anything at my sister's death, but it shall be divided bwtween my sister's
children equally with the exception of the said Roscoe Adams.
Item 3. I give to my beloved wife Eliza Farrabee and to my unnamed child,
one third of my estate after my debts are paid. Said donations as to my
wife to be good only if she remains unmarried. In case my wife should
marry, she is to have no part of my estate. In case my said unnamed child
should die, its part of my estate to remain in my wife as long as she remains
single, but in case of the death of said child and the marriage of my wife, then
said one third of my estate now given to them shall go to my niece Maud Coleman
my nephew Ron Finch, and to the children of Cecil Farrabee, Maud Coleman getting
one third, Roy Finch one third and the children of Cecil Farrabee the remaining
one third.
Item 4. I give to my beloved brother Luther Farrabee one third of my whole
estate after my debts are paid. He is to have control of my whole estate
until my said child arrives at the age of twenty one years and in case my said
child should die before it arrives at the age of twenty-one years, this shall in
no way affect the time in which my brother shall control my said estate; said
period of control by him to extend over the period of twenty one years. No
division of my estate shall be made untill the expiration of twenty one years,
said twenty-one years to extend from the birth of my said unnamed child.
During the above mentioned twenty-one years in which my brother Luther Farabee
is to have control of the above described property, my wife and child are to get
one third of income of said property, my sister Loonie Adams to get one third of
said income, and my brother Luther Farabee to get the remaining third of said
income.
Item 5. I do hereby appoint my brother Luther Farrabee Executor of this my
will. In testimony whereof, I have hereto set my hand, this 20th day of
April, 1907.

Item 1 - It is my will that at my death my body be buried in a Christian-like
manner suitable to condition in life
Item 2 - It is my will and desire and I so direct, that at my death all of my
property, both real and personal with the exception of my household and kitchen
furniture, be equally divided between my wife and children - that is to say, my
wife is to have a child's part, the same as one of my children. The reason
I only give my wife a child's part now is because I have already given her some
property that she now holds in her own name.
Item 3 - It is further my will and desire that the share or portion given to my
wife in the 2nd item of this will be given to her during her life only, and at
her death to go to my children the same as the other property given to them.
Item 4 - It is futher my will and desire that the share or portion given to my
girl children mentioned in item 2nd of this will be given to them for and during
their natural lives, and at their deaths to go to their children - my grand
children, and their portion of the property of their mother after her death to
go the same way, that is to say, that my girl children only have a life estate
in all property given to them or inherited by them under this Will, and at their
deaths the fee simple estate to go to their children - my grand children
Item 5 - It is my will and desire that if all my children are of age at my
death, it is my will and desire that they divide up the same privately among
themselves without a public sale, if all will agree to this, as I desire my
children to keep my landed estate, and if this is done my executors are directed
to make the deeds in accordance with their mutual agreements as to tracts or
parcels of land, but the deeds to my girls interest to be made in accordance
with item 4th of this will. In order to carry out this item of my will all
would have to be of age at my death, and agree upon a division, otherwise the
property would have to sold at public sale, and the proceeds divided as provided
by in this will and by law.
Item 6 - I hereby constitute and appoint my two sons C.J. Hadrman, and W.H.
Hardman, executors of this my last will and testament and I do futher appoint
them guardians of the property of any of my children that may be minors at my
death upon their giving a bonds as such as provided by law -

Item 1st It is my will that my estate be equally divided between my
children share & share about. it is my desire that one half of the
portion of my estate going to my son R.L. Hardman to my two daughters F.E.
Williamson & L.M. Jones be invested in land, & that said land be deeded
to them & their children by my Executor & said Executor is hereby
authorized to aid them in making said purchases. Also their portion of the
Harmony Grove Cotton Mill stock be transferred to them and their children at par
value by my Executor.
Item 2nd It is my will that all of my estate not above disposed of be
equally divided between all of my children after making them all equal. If
any of my children should die without having any children, in that case the
property received by said child or children shall go back to my former estate
for equal division between my living children or their children. I hereby
give to my too daughters F.E. Williamson & L.M. Jones all of my household
& kitchen goods valued by Executor for them.
Item 3rd It is my will that all the land that I have not deeded off
heretofore any other property not disposed of above be sold at my residence
after giving twenty day public notice be given by my executor.
Item 4th I do hereby constitute & appoint my son W.B. Hardman to be my
lawful Executor to this my last will and testament without bond, with all the
rights herein named, In witness hereof I set my hand & affixed my seal to
this my last will & testament,

Last Will and Testament of Rebecca Margaret Maynard.
I, Rebecca Margaret Maynard being of sound and disposing mind and memory do make
and constitute this my last Will and Testament.
Item First: I wish my executor, as soon as possible after my death to pay
my debts if there are any.
Item Second: I will and devise all my estate at my death to be equally
divided between my three beloved nephews viz: Jno T. Martin, E.B. Doster and J.W.
Maynard who shall share and share alike.
Item Third: I will and desire that my executor do sell at private sale or
public outcry as he may see fit the personal property of which I may die
possessed and distribute the proceeds of the same to my said nephews named in
Item second.
Item Fourth: It is my will and intent to keep intact my property and that the
proceeds thereof in rents and interest be used for my personal needs and support
till my death; that at that time enough be used for my decent burial expenses
including a suitable monument and that the residue be divided among my nephews
named. I am moved to do this, and the consideration for my so doing is
that my said nephews and their families are giving me their personal help and
service and promise to continue same till my death, and I leave them my property
to compensate them for such service as well as for the love I bear them.
The personal service to be rendered and above referred to is the providing for
my wants, keeping fires, nursing and caring for me in sickness and in health and
my Executor is charged to see that same is rendered by my said nephews as they
have promised.
Item Fifth: I do hereby appoint and constitute my friend R.J. Pentecost as
Executor of this my last Will and Testment.
In testimony whereof, I have hereto set my hand this 24th day of October, 1908.

I William Nunn of said state & county being of advanced age, but of sound

& proper both as respect my family and my self that I should make a
disposition of the property with which a kind providence has blessed me
with. I do therefore make thsi my last will & testament hereby
revoking and annulling all other by me heretofore made
First I desire & direct that my body be buried in a decent &
christian like manner suitable to my circumstances & condition in life, my
soul I trust shall return to rest with god who gave it, as I hope for salvation
through the merits & atonements of the blessed Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Caroline. I give to her four hundred Dollars in cash one Cow & calf
& one saddle one Clock and all the bedding that she claims I give all
this extra of an share for her services rendered my entire estate to be divided
equal between my heirs Betsey Ann Nash Mary Ann Pricket Nancy Evaline Morgan
Nicey Clementine Pricket William Thomas Nunn Rubin Reopen? Cynthia Caroline the
property & money above named is her entire share I also devise &
direct that all of my property to be sold & equally divided amongst my heirs
as is herein directed after the death of my wife Patsey.
I hereby constitute and appoint my friend Ruben E. Nunn Executor of this my last
will and testament this the 12th day of August 1878

management of my beloved wife Martha Webb during her life or widowhood And at
her death I desire my Daughters herein named to share my household furniture all
as it is at that time Elizabeth C. Henderson Eliza Park and Easter Parks
the balance of my property to be equally divided among my children share and
share alike. My grand children whose parents may then be dead and may now
be dead receiving their Father or Mothers regular portion of my estate
Item 3rd I desire that should my said wife marry a second time she shall
receive a childs part of my estate at her marriage my children then living and
those dead having children living being all represented and at the death of my
second wife her part received on the second marriage revert to my estate and be
divided among my children and grand children as set forth in item 2nd
Item 4th I give and bequeath to Gravelly Creek Baptist Church to be held
for the same by the Deacon thereof: and their ? in office four acres of land
including the house and spring the same whereon said house is located to be held
by them as a place of worship for the primitive baptists and should the said
denomination of Christians cease or fail entirely to worship there then said
land to revert to my Estate and be divided agreeable to this will
Item 5th I hereby appoint my beloved wife Martha Webb and J.M. Parks as
the Executor and Executrix of this my last will and testament this 23rd March
1873
