LEDBETTER - I am looking at the 1820
Census for Jones county. There is a Joseph Ledbetter (m.
Jane Parker) with 3 males under 10. One is Jacob b. 1811, one
is Andfrew b. 1815, could the other one be Joseph b. 1810??
The girls were Selina 1813 and Adaline 1818. Helen
Ledbetter Rawlin, Ca. 9/17/2009
MARSHALL - My brick wall is David
Marshall who lived in Jones County up until 1833 when he moved to Talbot
County, GA.
Also, his wife is my other brick wall. Her
name was Francis A. Stewart Marshall. They married in Jan 1823 in
Jones County, GA. Their daughter Margaret Louisa Marshall was born in Jones
County, GA in 1824. There may also have been a boy and girl born in Jones
County, GA.
My problem is: I do not
have parents for either one of these people. If anyone has a clue, please
let me know. Mary 5/13/2009
MITCHELL - Warren Anderson
Mitchell of Jones County, Georgia, is my maternal great, great grandfather.
He is my brick wall as far as his regiment and company during the Civil
War. He is a descendant of Henry Mitchell, RS, and Sarah Maderis
Mitchell (there are variant spellings of Sarah's maiden name) of Jones
County, Georgia. According to the Confederate Widow's Pension of
Warren's spouse, Lucinda Christian Mitchell, Warren Anderson Mitchell
was with Georgia troops at Camp Watts, near Notasulga, Alabama. Camp
Watts was also called Camp Number One of Instruction. He died of
pneumonia on November 20, 1862, while on duty in the recruiting office
at Camp Watts. He was returned to his old home in Jones County, Georgia,
and buried there. Some of the information in this pension was given
to my grand aunt in a handwritten letter by Mrs. Lillian Henderson.
Any Georgia troop information about regiment and company? Terri
