Lizzie Simmons Davis, born 1869, is the daughter of John and Sallie Simmons. She married Miller Davis in Lumpkin Co. on Sept. 5, 1886. Martha, whom she is writing to, is Martha Pierce Humphries, daughter of Wilson Jasper Pierce and Letty Caroline Roberts. Martha was born 1867 and married George Humphries in 1896. The letter was probably written in July/August 1926, based on the death date of Dorah Davis Satterfield.Others mentioned in the letter:
-Nancy & Sarah are the sisters of Martha (Pierce) Humphries
-Dorah Davis and James Eastwood Satterfield - married Sep. 3, 1893 in Lumpkin Co.
Dorah died July 9, 1926
-Triffeny Rider is probably the daughter of Joseph & Alpha Free Rider.
-Frances, Mandy and Zury [Missouri] are the children of Mary E. Roberts and James Campbell.
-Dorah, Dasy, Dulcy and Jean are the children of Martha's brother, James W. Pierce and Sallie Pitner.
-Clumbus Roberts is probably Marion Columbus Roberts (son of Miles M. Roberts) who moved to Oklahoma
(Lizzie may have thought Tate was speaking of Newton Columbus Roberts, brother of Frances, Mandy and Zury)
-Tate is probably Lizzie's brother Tate Simmons who moved to Oklahoma.
-Mr. Davis is most likely Lizzie's husband Miller Davis.
