Family of James H. and Hulda L. Pierce

      James Henry Pierce was born April 11, 1847 probably in Hall County, GA, the son of Wilson and Nancy (Barton) Pierce.  James' parents moved to Lumpkin Co. sometime between 1847-1850 and James was raised in Davis' district in the area just south of what is now Camp Wahsega.  He married on July 27, 1865 to Hulda Louisa Roberts.  Hulda was born December 8, 1846 in Union County, GA, the daughter of Rev. Miles M. and Sarah (Jones) Roberts.  Her family moved to Lumpkin Co. in 1856.
      James and Hulda had eleven children.  In 1872, the family moved from Lumpkin to Hall County, along with James' parents.  In 1886 or 1887, the James H. Pierce family moved to Lincoln Center, Kansas.  In about 1888, they moved again to Ft. Gibson, Indian Territory where they settled and raised their family.  James Henry died March 3, 1903 in Ft. Gibson, I.T.  Hulda died October 28, 1918 in Checotah, OK, where she was living with her son Roy's family.  The remains of both James H. and Hulda L. Pierce were later moved to Greenhill Cemetery in Muskogee, OK.
