Charles Gilliam (or Gable) Moon
1816-1902
Charles Gilliam [or Gable] Moon born in
1816 and died in 1902. He was the son of John Moon (born 1788) and Tabitha Staples.
Chalres married Malissie Elizabeth Booth 1 Aug 1838 in Elbert County.
Malissie was born 1821 and died 1893. She was the daughter of Gabriel Booth
and Elizabeth "Betsy" Stinchcomb. Charles and Melissie were both buried at
Rehoboth Baptist Church, Elbert County, GA.
Charlie Moon, as he was called, was owner & operator
of Moons Ferry on Broad River. He also donated the land for Rehoboth church.
Madison County Pension Records state: C.G. Moon, indigent
soldier was awarded a pension due to disability & health from 1900-1902 and that it
stopped at his death in 1902. He was in Co. D 9th Reg., CSA. |
