Collins Family Reunion
Saturday, October 15, 2005
Monroe, North Carolina

The descendants of Omar Jackson Collins & Alice Lou Rena Brown Collins will host a Family Reunion on Sat. Oct. 15th, 2005. We plan to have three special guests with us this year. We have invited Mr. Ron Jones to come and share with us about his book, "War Comes to Broad River." This novel of the Civil War is based on the diary of Isaac Vaughn "Ike" Moore (which is our Alice Lou Rena Brown Collins' maternal grandfather). Ron lives in Powell, Tennessee and is a direct descendant of William M. Moore (who was a brother to Ike).

We have also invited a couple of friends of our cousin Robert Scoggins this year. Their names are George & Janet Chance. They will be showing us some of what they do as members of a Civil War re-enactment group. Hopefully, this will help our younger ones to always remember this special day and what the book is really all about.

We have been meeting for the past few years at Paul Scoggins' horse farm at 7209 Concord Hwy (601), Monroe, N.C. Directions: From Hwy 29 and 601 at First Assembly Church, Concord. Hwy 601 is called Warren C. Coleman Road. Go past McDonald's & Walgreen's & Eckerd Drug store at Cabarrus Ave. south 22.1 miles. toward Monroe (35 min. drive). You will cross over Hwy 49 at 3.7 miles; at 13.1 miles you will come to Hwy 24/27 (in Midland, N.C.), go straight, when you cross county line the road changes to Concord Hwy. At 21.5 miles you will come to a stop light; go straight, the white fence on the right leads to Paul's drive-way. Look for 7209 on brick mailbox and turn right.  The barn is on the left and Paul's drive-way to his house is on the right. We plan to have signs at the road.
