Deare Brother I Received your leter the 12 of this instant and it gave me and my family satisfaction to here that you all was well but very much greaved to here that mother was Dead. My family is all well at this time and hope that these few lines will finde you and family Enjoying the Same helth. Ages of my children and names of my First wife Elisabeth V. C. Thomas M. Scarborough was Borne November 20th in the year of our Lord 1830. Allen W. Scarborough was borne April the 14th in the year of our Lord 1832. Elisabeth O. Scarborough was borne June 13th in the year of our Lord 1834. Treecy A. Scarborough was borne July the 24th in the year of our Lord 1836. Sarah I Scarborough was borne july the 4th in the year of our Lord 1841. Asa T. Scarborough was borne January the 29th in the year of our Lord 1843. Mary A Scarborough was borne May the 19th in the year of our Lord 1845. Henry W. Scarborough was borne August the 6th in the year of our Lord 1847. Eliza C. Scarborough was borne January the 4th in the year of our Lord 1849. Safroney L Scarborough was borne May the 16th in the year of our Lord 1851. These is the names of all my first wife children that is now livin.

I wood like to bee gardeen for my minors children and I want you to rite to me whether I wood have to git Security here or thare for what they are to get and rite how much will be coming tomy Children and when it will be redy for them; thare are five of my Children mariked they are the oldest; the Times of our country is very hard here and the people are very much confused about the north and south question.
