McIntosh County Court Records
Most of the court records that we are interested in will be from the probate
court (every county in Georgia has one). The probate courts generally
handle marriage licenses, wills, estates, trusts, guardianships and other
records that involve genealogy. Adoptions are in the purview of the
superior courts of Georgia (every county has one). The superior courts
have jurisdiction over adoptions and real property issues (deed records are
usually superior court records). The superior courts also can hear
probate matters and even appeals of probate matters, but most of the records
of interest will be the probate court records.
