Vines Collier died December 7, 1795 in Oglethorpe County, Georgia.

March 12, 1796.  Charles Smith, John Gresham, Stephen Potts and Matthew Rainey performed an inventory and appraisement of the personal property of his estate on March 12, 1796.  The value of the property according to this appraisement was $2,201.75.

December 31, 1800.  Return of annual expenditures of the Estate of  Vines Collier, dec’d by John and Isaac Collier, Surviving Executors.  $43.00 ¼.  Recorded date not shown.

(It is obvious that Sarah “Salley” Collier, wife of Vines was living on January 11, 1799 for she filed a return on expenditures from the estate on that date).

December 31, 1801.  A return was filed to the amount of sales of real and personal property.                                                                       $5,080.05

1810. Yearly return of the estate of Vines Collier, dec’d, by Isaac Collier, Executor.  Nothing received, nothing expended.  Recorded January 23, 1811.

1811. Yearly return of the estate of Vines Collier, dec’d, by Isaac Collier, Executor.  Rec’d nothing; paid nothing.  Recorded April 21, 1812.

This was the last recorded return for the estate and may have been the final return as there was additional space in the ledger for further returns.

It is my thinking that $510.00 was a child’s part of the estate.

The following children received bequests in the will of Vines:

Isaac Collier, 100 acres of land.
Elizabeth Collier Dunn, one Negro girl, Dilsey
One feather bed and furniture to the value of $41.00
Ann Collier Hardaman, one Negro girl, Janey

The following legatees received cash or in kind:

William Collier                510.00
Vines Collier (Jr.)             510.00
Cuthbert Collier               510.00
Thomas Collier                510.00
Benjamin Collier             510.00
Robert Collier                  510.00
Williamson Collier           510.00
John Owen (Polley)          408.00
Polley Collier (Bed )           41.00
Polley Collier(Clothing)    29.22 478.22

Harrison Smith (Salley)          317.75 ¾
Salley Collier             83.14 ½ 400.90 ¼

There is no indication of a disbursement to John Collier, one of the executors of the estate.  The fact that John Collier gave a quit claim
to the estate indicates that he was compensated otherwise for his
share.

(Note by W. R. Collier:  This appears to be the last  year for which a yearly return was filed on the estate of Vines Collier.  In 1817, Isaac Collier made a return on 400 acres and 8 slaves in Oglethorpe County.  Sarah Elizabeth (Williamson) Collier also known as “Salley” witnessed the will of John Hardeman on February 1, 1804).  It is my thinking that Sarah Elizabeth Williamson Collier, wife of Vines, died between January 1, 1811 and December 31, 1811.  Had she been deceased before January 1, 1811, the estate would have reverted to the legatees and no return would have been necessary for the estate in 1812.  Had she been deceased after December 31, 1811, a yearly return on the estate for 1812 would have been required and such a return does not exist in the records.  I am going with my conclusion pending some better information.)
