Joel C Atkins - Thomas Baldwin

Thomas and Elizabeth Baldwin moved to Polk County, Ga. from Greenville, South Carolina in the 1850's. Thomas Baldwin was born May 5, 1811 in Greenville, South Carolina and died Feb. 6, 1889 in Polk County, Ga. and was buried at Bethlehem Cemetery. His wife was Elizabeth Baldwin. Her Maiden name was Elizabeth Davis, she was born October 21, 1821 in South Carolina and died Sept. 20, 1892 in Polk County, Ga. and was also buried in Bethlehem Cemetery in Polk County, Ga. Thomas and Elizabeth Baldwin had 9 children. One of which was John Thomas Lafayette Baldwin who is my Great, Great Grandfather. John Thomas Lafayette Baldwin was born August 26, 1838 in Greenville, South Carolina. He died May 2, 1902 in Polk County, Ga. and was buried at Bethlehem Cemetery. John Thomas Lafayette Baldwin was known as "Jack" Baldwin for short. He Married Adeline Eliza Atkins who was the daughter of Joel C. Atkins.

Joel C. Atkins was born July 03, 1805 in Virginia and died August 11, 1876 in Polk County, Ga. He married Mary Austin and they had 16 children alltogether, one of which was a daughter named Adeline Eliza Atkins whom was my great, great grandmother. Adeline Eliza Atkins was born Feb. 4, 1846 in Dekalb County, Ga. and died Feb. 26, 1913 in Polk County, Ga. Both her and her father Joel C. Atkins and her mother Mary Austin Atkins are buried at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery in Polk County, Ga. I have covered the entire cemetery personnally and looked at every single headstone and Joel C. Atkins was the first person buried there that had a marked tombstone that I could find. Joel C. Atkins fought in the Indian wars in the 1830's in Ga.

John Thomas Lafayette Baldwin and Adeline Eliza Atkins Baldwin had 14 children alltogether. One of which was John Edward Baldwin who was my Great Grandfather. He was born March 29, 1866 in Polk County, Ga. and died Dec. 20, 1942 in Polk County, Ga. He married Georgia Nora Green. Georgia Nora Green (my great grandmother) was born May 23, 1866 in Haralson County, Ga. and died April 15, 1914 in Haralson County, Ga. John Edward Baldwin and Georgia Nora Green had 10 children together. One of which was Robert Edward Baldwin who was my grandfather. Robert Edward Baldwin (BOB) was born June 11, 1908 in Haralson County, Ga. and died August 13, 1979 in Polk County, Ga. He is buried at Aragon Cemetery in Aragon, Ga.
