Update February 8,
2004
This small cemetery is truly a loved cemetery by the
descendents. Located deep in the woods, it is known to the descendents only
as the Jones, Morris, Chandler, Miller, Thompson Cemetery due to those
interred there. This cemetery is the final resting place for at least 16
members of this family.
On November 8, 2003, Mr. & Mrs. Gordon, Mr. & Mrs.
Wearn, Mr. Bernal, Ms. Varner, Ms. Vicky Chambers with good wishes and help
financially from those who were to far to come and help, gathered here and
started the preservation of their ancestors final resting place. This not
only brought a family together but also brought the much-needed help to this
beautiful cemetery.
There have been plans made to continue work in the near
future on the cemetery. There are a good number of trees that are
threatening to fall on the headstones, branches which need to be trimmed and
almost all of the headstones are in desperate need to being reset.
What this family has decided to do shows that our goals,
though seems tough at times, is well worth every effort. A cemetery is truly
preserved when families come together, take on and conquer tasks such as
this.
