About Our Department

The Department of Georgia & South Carolina, Sons of Union Veterans

The Department of Georgia and South Carolina was chartered on May 10th, 2008, restoring a presence that had ended in the 20th Century when the original Grand Army Of the Republic Department of Georgia & South Carolina disbanded as the surviving Union veterans passed away.

The Department is comprised of four (4) charter Camps. Three are in Georgia (James B. McPherson Camp #1 in Atlanta; Elias Moon Camp #2 in Snellville; and Kennesaw Mountain Camp #3 in Marietta), and one in South Carolina (Charles Devens Camp #10 in Columbia).
