Resolutions in Memory of Mr. James A. Philmon
Adopted by Crowells Local Union August 3, 1909
On the 18th day of July, 1909 God saw fit in His infinite wisdom to take from us
our beloved brother, James A. Philmon. He was always ready and willing to
respond to any call made upon him when the best interests of his Union
demanded it. His uprightness and honesty won for him the friendship and
confidence of all who knew him. Oh! how sad to know that he was cut down in the
very prime of life, in the midst of usefulness therefore be it Resolved. First
that we bow in humble submission to the Divine Providence of God, realizing that
His ways are higher than ours as the heavens are above the earth, and that He
doeth all things well. Second. That our union has lost a good member, the
community an upright citizen and his family an affectionate and loving husband
and father. Third, That we extend our heartfelt sympathy to his bereaved family
and that we mingle with theirs our tears of grief, standing ever ready to lend
assistance in the time of need and commend them to the mercies and care of the
one from whom cometh every good and perfect gift. Fourth, That a page is left
blank on our minute book to his memory and that a copy of these resolutions be
furnished the family and also the Butler Herald for publication.
Fraternally,
C. M. Lucas
